Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
I will withhold judgment until it's done since I am probably not seeing the finished product. Apo - best of luck, man. I know what that's like. Great work though in advance!

Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
will the new server appearance be similar to the old one (i'm referring to things such as color scheme) or should we expect something totally different?

This has the whole Retro look going on. I may have to go and ask Apophis to share a Coffee Milk.

Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
Two things I have noticed so far and mention just so you're aware.
Doesn't appear to be a link to the UserCP anywhere but the direct URL still works. Maybe I am missing it as it has been renamed. EDIT: It is renamed. "Settings" in the upper right. So ignore this one, just me not clicking on everything like I normally do.
Also, the jump to first new post, at least from the UserCP I can get to, doesn't go to th e first new post. It just goes to the first page to contain a new post. Considering simultaneous jump in server and software having only two minor annoyances is awesome.
Anywho, just a heads up for whenever. Thanks again!

Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
As a user I love new things. As the guy who has to make it happen, I hate upgrades. I never want to upgrade my PC or install upgraded server software. (New software is different. There's no users to keep happy during the transition, because there's no transition when it's new.) So hats off to Apophis for chewing up a weekend to accomplish this. Forum software is some of the hardest to upgrade due to the high degree of customization and the oft-overlooked need for features to make that process easy.
Greyed found the one thing I was worried about, the User CP page (which I go to first to find replies to my posts), so I'm a happy camper.
The default vBulletin theme was jarring, but still easy on the eyes, and it's just a theme. All the parts of the site that I was worried about making it through the migration are there, so I'm completely satisfied. The only thing I'd use that's not yet operational is the old thread links (eg. from old subscription notification emails or between threads) and those are apparently coming soon.Dude, seriously, WHAT handkerchief?

Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
you know the last time you did a site upgrade luna went into labor mid way through the process. Was that "fixed" this time?
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: Server Downtime - Server Upgrade - Site Upgrade
All of the URL rewrite stuff has been completed. So any old links in the forums to other threads should be working properly as are all the links from Google to various TG pages.
