Steam update
Hey, since so many of us use Steam in some form or another, thought this might be interesting.
Steam is starting a new UI public beta, today, and I just updated. An interesting change, I kind of like it.
Any thoughts?

Re: Steam update
I'm just happy they no longer use IE as the browser and it seems way snappier now.

It keeps locking up for a few seconds on me.... Bit annoying..

Re: Steam update
MAJOR BUGS IN STEAM UI BETA
Be aware that there is an issue where the new Steam Beta UI deletes game files and needs to re-download them! I just lost my 11GB COD:MW2 folder to the Beta UI and it started re-downloading. Not sure if this will affect any user data (rank, progression)
Other deleted games include:

There is also an issue with UI text not being displayed at all (see http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1158814) which I also ran into - so i cant even switch back to the non-beta version because none of the menus display any text.TG-E1st TacticalGamer European Division | Watch this (pretty old) video to find out what TG is all about

Re: Steam update
I was just coming to post the warning that got posted above. It also seems to be happening with Modern Warfare 2 for some people:
The new UI has a tendancy with some games to start redownloading the game.
I.E for me it started re downloading Modern Warfare 2, when it completed it had removed 7gb of files making it unplayable, it is happening with other games to just as a warning to others. only way to fix is to redownload/reinstall

Re: Steam update
Awww crap. It's not that big of a deal to re-download, but I wish that I had read through this before clicking into the beta. Hmm, odd. I didn't have to redownload. Hmmm.
For L4D, there really isn't anything to lose (Steam Cloud) and for HL2 I don't particularly care about saved games. I'm going to have to go through and verify the game folders, then go back to the restore point.
[UPDATE]
- I rolled back with no issues thus far.
