Yes, and it was for his old cellmate (and lover). You see, they served time together back in the day, and our guy's cellmate saved his ass (sometimes literally, sometimes figuratively) many times in the big house. When our guy finished his time in prison, he vowed to find the evidence to reverse his cellie's conviction and death sentence. After 8 years and 4 months, he finally got the results of the DNA test that the prosecutors were no longer interested in.

He took the results and the courtroom testimony that placed someone else at the scene of the crime to the governor. The governor wasn't swayed until he read the quotes from the court. The governor decided that he didn't know if Bubba was innocent, but that this new evidence needed to be looked at in a court of law. The governor signed a stay that had been sitting on his desk, just waiting for his pen to touch it. Our guy convinced the governor just in time, as he thought about tonight's scheduled slaying.

Driving from the Capitol to the state prison was hell. A massive thunderstorm was pummeling the area. The winds were gusting so strong that it was pushing his car back and forth as he was driving. Cars were wrecked here and there, and tree limbs had to be dodged as they littered the road. He figured he'd get to the prison just in time to see Bubba as he's transferred from death row back to general population. Then our guy sees telephone lines laying across the road ahead of him. The only telephone lines that go out to the prison. He floors it and arrives at the prison with time to spare.

He carefully slid his copy of the governor's stay up under his shirt as he dashed through the rain from his car to the imposing structure. He had hoped he would never have to enter this place again. But he took a deep breath and plunged into the lobby of the prison. He had one hour before the execution was scheduled. As he passed through security, the guard told him he had better hurry if he didn't want to miss it. He thought the guard was just making a cruel joke, then he realized that he forgot to adjust his wristwatch for daylight savings time, so he started running down the hall towards the last room on death row. That's when W6's story occurs.
