same reason I have 9...... BECAUSE HE CAN!!!!!!!!!!
and there is something to be said for clicking one power strip and hearing the equivelant of a jet engine..... (total noise for my room with all 8 desktop computers running with all 63 fans was 112 db..... the laptop isnt loud enough to contribute) most of the time though 2 or 3 were up and only 2 or at most 3 fans per box turned way down, effectively making output closer to 45 or 50 db, but showing off that noise was cool from time to time......
and yes, 9 computers is completely necessary.... but I have since consolidated to 5 with vmware and a new laptop...
computer 1 - primary gaming computer
computer 2 - Laptop
computer 3 - game server (ghost recon)
computer 4 - game server (flight sims)
computer 5 - web/ email/ file/ print/ firewall server (also test computer for slot a chips)
computer 6 - test computer for amd socket a with ddr or sdram and agp
computer 7 - test computer for intel socket 1 (372) with sdram
computer 8 - test computer with at mobo, sdram, 72 pin simm, and super 7
computer 9 - audio/ video/ picture editing and tivo computer
computers 3, 4, and 5 were always on, and the rest were on when needed.....
computer 1 is merged to computer 2 (a downgrade, but easier to manage) as well as computer 9 being merged in there too... (one bag and I can record, edit, and produce near hollywood quality recordings, DVD's and CD's)
the gamer servers are gone, and the test computers remain for what they are, not what they do... I need to be able to test any random part that comes in, and this is the only way to do it.......
in conclusion, no pic needed, just imagine the biggest geek you can, and give him the nick "DdogG" and it's me! but for you people complaining about not knowing what ppl look like, this is me:
