Call of Duty "Dawnville Demo" (2nd demo)

Re-post from Aces High BBS posting by Batz

"It picks up where the last one leaves off. At dawn mortars rain down then you are attacked by tigers with inf support. You knock out the tigers with panzerfausts then move about the town defending with the numerous mg42s (remember the 1st demo and all the mgs?). The map is a bit different though. After you kill hundreds of bad guys you go and take out the motar, jump in a French car and it ends. Demo is about as long as the first and nothing more then a taste. But it does look good."

It's hard to find the demo because it's supposed to be restricted and only available from a gaming magazine CD, however, you can locate it from here.

File Mirrors

Search for phrase "call" and make sure you download the one that has a file size of 164.77 megs, which is the second single player demo. The one sized at 179 megs is the first single player demo and if you've never tried this game, you should probable have a look at it as well. Personally, I think it has some terrific multi-player potential, which we'll start beta testing for possible Tactical Gamer use once the game is officially released near the end of the month.

This game is SOOOOOO secksy.

We simply MUST have this when it comes out.

I rarely rush out and buy a new game as soon as it comes out. THIS is one I will.

Shipped October 29th...

Tried the two demos on this game and it seems to be one of the better releases of this genre in a while, plus apparently has a good multi-player mode.

Game Spy Review ... 5 stars

This game has a lot of potential from what I hear. I can't really imagine a WW2 game better than Bf1942, but we will see when it comes.

There basically is no single player in BF1942. It's basically training for multiplayer.

I am expecting good things from CoD multiplayer. Counter-Strike got it right: objectives with one spawn per player per round. So many games try to match this success but they mess up the basics, giving multiple respawns and/or repetitive deathmatch (whats the point of a strategic withdrawl if you can just die and respawn? there's half the variety of the game out the window).

Ok, some games like GR or AA have this mode, but it works for more action-oriented games like CS as well. I really hope CoD multiplayer strikes this balance with the "Search and Destroy" mode. Some of the other modes sound promising too.

Good call random. I like the idea of trying to complete an objective on a large map with only one respawn. Forces everyone to stick together as a group. The only reason CS is such a frag fest is because the maps are so small. I would like to see a CS-type game with huge maps and objectives like that of RTCW:ET. If CoD gets this balance right, then indeed, it will be a game that I might buy.
