You might also want to go to trillian > preferences > startup and check "load trillian at startup"
I'm still having problems connecting. I'm using Trillian Pro 2.0. I've setup the connection as noted above but I get the following errors...

[01/29 01:13] *** Connecting to port 6667 of server irc.gamesurge.com
[01/29 01:13] *** Connection to irc.gamesurge.com failed (couldn't resolve hostname).

I wasn't sure if I needed to open port 6667 on my router, so I have. That still didn't correct it.

Ideas?

You might want to try connecting to .net instead of .com

Edit: Perry beat me to it...

Re: IRC Channel.

Sorry, I've tried both .net and .com. That message just happened to be the one I copied. Any other suggestions?

Trooper... I only use Trillian since it combines everything into one interface... thanks for the offer though.

Re: IRC Channel.

FYI: OPS?

Just to clarify some misinformation, all Game Officers are automaticaly Oped. Some Game Admins and some trusted SMs are Oped based on two criteria: Need and Activity. If there is a need for more ops (meaning the current trusted Op base isn't doing enough to moderate the channel) and you are a highly active individual in the channel (in addition to holding the TG standards), you will be considered for an Op status. Otherwise, I fear making the channel too top heavy.

Re: IRC Channel.

Whoops, I was the one spreading that misinformation. I thought Ops status was for all admins. Sorry for the misinformation...

These might help people set up the Trillian client for IRC:

What happens when you ping irc.gamesurge.net or irc.us.gamesurge.net? Your problem doesn't look like a router problem..

Here are their servers.. try connecting to some of them directly, like Gigenet.IL.US.GameSurge.net instead of irc.gamesurge.net.

Re: IRC Channel.

with trillian I occasionally have problems grabbing one of the two main gamesurge connectors. I just switch between the two. The easiest way to do so is just go into the IRC list, find gamesurge, and select either random gamesurge server or random us gamesurge server (irc.gamesurge.net and irc.us.gamesurge.net respectively) usually I can connect to one or the other. Very rarely I cannot connect to either, but that doesn't usually last long.

Re: IRC Channel.

Or just click here:

irc://irc.gamesurge.net/tacticalgamer

(Maybe this link can be added to the list of buttons across the top of the forums, or to the server info menu on the home page.)

That implies that your browser is failing to find the "irc" protocol handler. I believe mIRC installs the entry in the Windows registry (where IE should find it), and for Mozilla Firefox, it should launch Chatzilla. (That's what my system does.)

The browser should look up the name before the colon in the URL in its list of protocol handlers and launch the matching handler with the URL as an argument. For IE, handlers are stored in the HKR hive in the registry. (Alas, I just checked, and Moz doesn't register Chatzilla, so if you click the link from IE and expect Chatzilla to launch, you get that message.)

Aha, if you use mIRC, you need to enable the chat link support:
