Anyone know how to connect to this via trillian? For one, I don't see the gamesurge.net server in the listing of servers.

asch, I've recently started using trillian so that I don't have to run mIRC separately. It's a really crappy IRC client, but it meets my needs (which are very simple).

If you need help, you know how to find me.

In Trillian 3, go to Trillian > connections > manage my connections. Click add new connection, select IRC.

In server alias put #TacticalGamer
In the second box put irc.gamesurge.net
Put your nick in the username and nickname boxes.
Check "automatically connect to this connection at startup".

To connect right away click "connect".

You might also want to go to trillian > preferences > startup and check "load trillian at startup"

If you still need a hand PM/ MSN etc me.

OK, I'm using the latest free version of Trillian and I don't have the option to add an IRC connection, just AIM, MSN, ICQ or YahooIM. Is this 'cause I don't have the Pro version?

Nope, I think you're just special, because I too am a freeloader with Trillian, and IRC shows up as an option perfectly well using Wintermute's directions.

In PRO, one must have the IRC plugin enabled in the Plugins section. Is that the case in Basic?

1) Is there a free program that will sniff the network for which ports are open through my firewall?
2) Is there a way to configure an IRC program to use the open ports in my network but still connect using the usuall 6667?

My schools firewall blocks things, I cant figure out what things. I cant connect to Netfire.TX.US.GameSurge.Net port:6667, but the net admins say that the ports arent blocked.

Is there a way, using Trillian, to minimize the chat window to the system tray (I don't want it taking up real estate in the taskbar...) and/or close it and reopen it without having to do a "global reconnect"?
