Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Install a vanilla unpatched freelancer copy to PC. (do not patch)
Install Loader.
Connect via loader and let it update.
use the menu's to connect to the IONCROSS server via the usual method.
That's what I have to do to connect. If the loader isn't connecting, you might've hit it during one of it's auto-update periods (last about 5 minutes, happens several times daily)
Still hasn't whiped yet tho, so you're not missing out on play time.

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
This isn't a "Server Down"-type error: The text reads: "You are no longer permitted to access this service." That's the type of stuff that gets said when people are banned, not when there's a system problem.

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Odd. Maybe they're prepping for the pwhipe and are blocking the connections, but I'm not having any connection issues. Might be that your Ip is banned from another user (often they'll ban entire sections of an ip, but that would still require the user be within, say, ten city blocks of you and on the same service as you.

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Well classically it looks like they are a day behind. Apparently one of the core developers found something he really needs to fix before release and adjust a few prices throughout the game. The issue that may be affecting you pokerface is that JoeBoomz (he owns the server and site) is doing some domain transfer and server updates for tonight. Try again after the wipe which has been rescheduled for 9PM EST tonight Friday the 25th. This should fix any problems. Enjoy!

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
I just got done installing the game and screwing around on the total war server for a bit. I've never even played Freelancer, much less this total war mod, so it is a bit awkward for me. I'd love to get on sometime with some other guys from here to learn the ropes. DONMAC is the name (no periods allowed
). My biggest problem so far is I can't find an option to invert the mouse :\

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
And in Classic MMO style, the game whiped Friday Night. By 3:30am Saturday Morning the server died and didn't come back =P

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Eh, played it over the weekend, and ultamitely decided it's not worth the time. You need to put in MMO kind of time to get anywhere, but it's nowhere near MMO quality. If you don't hook up with people that played the beta, you shouldn't bother logging in, because you'll burn hours upon hours trying to learn for yourself, and you will not get anywhere. I could go on about it I suppose, but In the end, this game just requires too much time for too little reward, IMO.

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
I myself like it. But I played the beta and beat the orginal Freelancer game so I know the controls and I know how to play Total War.

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Sadly that isnt enough to win in this game, throw everything you thought you knew about Freelancer out the window
. We've been getting a very nice influx of TG people into the ICTW server and I think its a mutually beneficial relationship. I've seen lots of good cooperation and teamwork coming from both sides. Im pretty sure Don.Mac and J would agree that this game is quite the intense one when together running on thrusters being chased by 3 police ships across a gap in the asteroid field to a base that might not still be there. Ah god the intensity and focus that goes into this game rivals WoW but without the whole no-skill-needed-just-time-leveling-up or omg-im-level99-i-cant-be-hurt things. You can actually experience complete and utter panic in this game, you feel that responsible and afraid of death.

Wow. Considering that I had to get the game just to get this mod, I'm impressed. :-/

Re: Ioncross Freelancer: Total War
Try PMing an admin on the ioncross forums to get that straightened out. With the completion of my coursework I'll probably get back into this game. It would be really nice to see some more familiar names on the server.
