Ooops! Everything but the Xanth series, very cool. I especially liked the immortals series. Xanth there's about two really good books and the rest are just getting more and more worthless as he includes all the reader-submitted crap.
The first dozen Xanth novels were great fantasy stories! But like you said, they've recently become less than stellar...

I'd say Xanth is what got me to really start reading. I found a copy of my dad's "Spell for Chameleon" and read it after he specifically told me that it was for grown ups only... (He probably did it on purpose...) I was 6 yrs old at the time... I had to read them all after that... Luckily my aunt was a scifi/fantasy junkie (she had a library in her house, a whole room literally filled with cheap bookcases and stacks of books) and she thought it was great that I was reading Pier Xanthony...

BTW, Card had done more than just Ender, and they're ALL good. I just got done re-reading Songmaster, which is one of his early books. THe Homecoming Saga, the Alvin Maker Saga, and Pastwatch (which is about Cristopher Colombus) are ALL good reads.

I'm a big Harry Turtledove and Tom Clancy fan. However I'm finally reading Asimov's Foundation trilogy for the first time.

I could not agree more. Piers Anthony has not left well enough alone in the Xanth series. I prefer his more scifi based series. Next on my list from him is the Adept series.

The Dorsai series was only a small part of the whole Childe Cycle. You should go grab the rest of the books. Tactics of Mistake tis only an interlude!

I still havn't read this book, and I've been meaning to for a long time.

I did however find this interesting analysis of the book and movie, made a good read here at work:

This guy did a good job at analyzing both the book and the movie. And he pointed out that alot of comments people are making about the book are simply false and unsupportive attacks again Hemlein.

Feh. Songmaster is 1 book. Pastwatch is 1 book. Card hasn't done any massive "series" other than Ender and Alvin Maker. They're all relatively easy and quick reads as well. Hell, I recently reread Songmaster in the span of 5 days. Just an hour or so before bed each night. So you don't have to worry about long sagas that span over 3-5 books that are $5-7 a pop like Turtledove. :P

I never read in school because the books I wanted to read they wouldnt let me so I boycotted reading in school.. I didnt even read out loud in class. For the longest time the teachers thought I didnt know how to read and put me into a special ed class to teach me.. little did they know I was actually good at reading and didnt because they wouldnt let me read what I wanted too.

Anyway, I read a lot of magazines too. Mostly gamer and PC mags (EMG, Gamepro, CGW, PC Gamer, ect).

Weee!!!

Went shopping yesterday, happened into a Waldenbooks. Came out with 4 books, and a HUGE question.

Concerning Asimov's Foundation saga, just how many books are there, and what's the first one in the set? I've got Foundation, Foundation and Empire and Second Foundation. My set was printed early....like in 1969. In the book it says it's a trilogy. However, when I went to Waldenbooks, I decided to hit the Asimov section to maybe pick up another one of his books. There I saw no less than 2 OTHER Foundation books. I opened one up to check out the publication list for Asimov and it said there were SIX Foundation books. I searched for the one they listed first, but no luck.

I also got 2 more of Card's Alvin Maker books, the new Turtledove *drool*, and a BEAUTIFUL Illustrated History of the Civil War by Mathhew Brady for only $4!!!

I've got plenty to read again!
