Re: Netflix
This thread deserves a nice *BUMP* since Netflix is still around and somewhat prospering, but alas it hasn't defeated blockbuster completely......yes

Re: Netflix
I am still loving it, and watch a couple of shows a week with their streaming service. Right now I have the just released Eagle Eye rental at home, hoping to watch it tonight (saw it in the theater, but was really good).
Once you try netflix, you will never want to go to blockbuster or rental store again.

Re: Netflix
Since not everyone checks out the tech forum, and I know we had a good thread going about netflix here, I'm CCing this here
I didn't think it was going to happen, since Microsoft probably paid a ton to have the exclusive to the Xbox this past year, but Sony just announced it is coming to the PS3.
The streaming service doesn't have a TON of movies you just got to see, but it does have just barley enough, and they say they are going to be adding lots more. I watched the newish movie Mall Cop yesterday. I also just noticed they have Ronin available. If you haven't seen that movie, stop what you are doing and go rent it! Better yet, buy it. I got my copy for like $5.99.
Netflix coming next month to PlayStation 3
Also, I was crawling around the intrawebs the other day and found this awesome site:
Streaming Soon on Netflix Instant Watch
It's a great way to see what is about to start showing, as well as what is about to be taken down/ expire.
That is easier to use I think because of the pictures
compared to the site I posted about before that is also very good:
instantwatcher.com

Re: Netflix
I've been with netflix for about a year and highly recomend them esp. if you have a high speed internet connection. I get 1 dvd at a time and can stream all i want for about 10 bucks. Between this and hulu I hardly ever turn tv on.

Re: Netflix
Listening to TWiT (or was it the cNet podcast?) they said the president of Netflix said that they would no longer be distributing DVDs in 2 years.

Re: Netflix
I have the Xbox package, its like $18 a month or maybe less and I get unlimited rentals with 3 out at a time and unlimited streaming of movies to my xbox and PC. AND I can log in with the same account in different places and watch movies at the same time.
My boss was hospitalized and he had his laptop and cell card, I gave him my login and we both used it with no issues. I love it.

Re: Netflix
Our local library functions in a similar way to Netflix so I have not ever gone with the Netflix themselves.
We go online and reserve books, movies, audio CDs and video games (only the video games have to be picked up in person).
The CDs, movies and audio CDs are mailed to us in padded envelopes, we have to drop them off at the Library when done instead of a return envelope although we could mail it back if we chose. Since we are a 3 minute drive to the Library it works out very well.
They carry almost every movie and TV series and while they do have late fees they only kick in after a month and are very cheap. I'd recommend checking out you local library to see if they offer a similar service.Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Re: Netflix
My local library only has a few PG and G rated DVDs, and a bunch of PG and PG-13 rated VHS tapes.
I'm going to stick with netfilx.
And netflix has just about every movie possible. It really is crazy how many they have.

Re: Netflix
Netflix is cool, I don't rent DVDs as much but I watch a movie on their website somewhat often. The future of movies is probably online now that they have those Netflix TV boxes.

Re: Netflix
Apparently coming to the Wii as well. My fiance and I watch streaming videos in the office (usually while one of us is on the elliptical machine) but I could see us using this too.

Re: Netflix
Netflix on the Wii would be cool, only problem, no HD movies, or shows I bet.
