Even if you end up breaking even on the movie rentals with Netflix as compared to Blockbuster, you'll save on late fees!!! I don't know how many times I've paid twice for a movie cause I'm a lazy slacker and hate returning movies. With Netflix, you don't have late fees!!! You just use the postage paid envelope.
Also, you don't have to return all the movies at once. You can have max of three (based on membership) movies out at one time. Watch one, return it... by the time you've watched the next two, your next movie in the queue has arrived. |

Just had to interject here. Wal-Mart does censor. To censor means nothing more than to suppress or remove (or maybe to edit, but that definition doesn't apply here) something because your examination finds it objectionable. Wal-Mart certainly does that. It's their right to do that, and I suppose I support that right when it comes to private retail enterprise. But to deny they do it is incorrect.

Call it what you will.. The fact is that a Walmart store comes into a community, destroys all the competition, and then turns around and gives a 'selection' of their own choosing. Joe Schmoe who used to buy his Girls Gone Wild DVDs at the local video store now has to choose from a bunch of family movies.
But this is not just about videos. Magazines and music are also subject to this. Perhaps in the future their women's department will no longer sell mini-skirts or g-string underwear. ![]() Furthermore, due to their influence, Walmart affects the future content of media. A game maker might have to include less violence in a game if they want Walmart to carry the item. Magazines will have to watch what they put in. Recording artists already release censored (yes, CENSORED) versions of their albums just for Walmart. So, maybe it's not technically censorship, but the end result is the same.

![]() As for getting older movies via BitTorrent (Yar!) you just have to have the right contacts. I recently downloaded Metropolis, and a bunch of Bogart movies. BitTorrent is all about knowing where to get your torrents from. That being said, I treat the movies that I download >like< rentals. If I really enjoy the movie, and think that I'll want to see it again, I add it to my list of "To Buy's" and will purchase them. For instance the movie Underworld. Just downloaded and watched it, found it quite enjoyable, and I'm planing on picking up the DVD. Now the opposite. League of Extrodinary Gentlemen. Lots of action, but I'd have been miffed if I'd payed any money to see it.

Some times I just cant help but agree with Tempus.
Oh and Temp, they're already doing it to video games. Last year, BMX XXX was released for all the major consoles. Yeah well Walmart got a hold of it and refused to sell it because of the M-rating. Sony of course backed down (god forbid they actually stick up for something) and forced the publishers of it to censor the game so Walmart could carry it. Walmart sickens me to no extent. They refuse to sell Manson CDs because he's "controversial" yet sell Britney Spears CDs. Talk about being a hypocrite. |

While WalMart's actions may effectively censor artists due to the reasons that Tempus pointed out, they don't directly censor anything. They don't suppress or remove any artists' work from other retail outlets. They don't prevent anyone from going anywhere else to buy or sell their things. They choose which products they are going to offer for sale. Just because you do not promote something does not mean you are suppressing it. I understand that their retail power often makes their strict guidelines seem like censorship, but it's really not. Or maybe it is, hell, I don't know. Maybe the Illuminati is really in charge of WalMart and they're using WalMart's buying power to systematically crush anyone that doesn't meet their concept of "tasteful". 8)

I also don't belive in DVDs. It is a vast conspiracy between Sony and Blockbuster to get us to 1) give them £100 for a DVD player/ playstation 2 and throw away our perfectly good video player. 2) pay £2 more for every film we rent or buy, despite the fact that DVDs are vastly cheaper to manufacture than casettes Also, I have never seen a video store that doesn't cater to hollywood blockbuster big budget cheesy bull. You always just end up renting something rubbish from the chart section. They should have one shelf for the chart, and a massive classics or recomended section, not the other way round.
