Usenet
Any way to ignore the Usenet forums? I just loaded up the TG site to find 1300 new posts?

There will be, yes...

The biggest problem right now is just the initial propigation. Once the existing content in the newsgroups are sucked in there won't be nearly as many new posts the next time you log in. But once you read all the new TG posts, make good use of the "Quick Links > Mark Forums Read" link in the top menu...
Look for an official announcement regarding the USENET integration tonight as well! Not only are we able to retrieve and read USENET posts but we will also be able to post directly to the USENET groups from within the TG forums.

Re: Usenet
Very nice to hear. I was a heavy USENET reader a couple years ago, but that died down quite a bit in the past 16-18 months. It will be nice to pull in some USENET feeds and be able to read/post all from the Tactical Gamer site.

Re: Usenet
I just changed to a different newsfeed provider. The one I had previously integrated with insisted on putting their own footers at the bottom of all messages posted through the feed. I promptly dropped them and have picked up a new feed provider.
As a result of this change it is possible that there MAY be a duplicate of some of the messages in the USENET groups. But this will only be a one-time event and will be resolved shortly.

Re: Usenet
Absolutely.. Posting rights have not yet been activated by our provider for the TG feed, but they should be active shortly.

Posting rights will be limited to Supporting Members only, I hope? I'd hate to see people registering here just to abuse our USENET setup...

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Usenet
Posting rights still have not been approved. I've opened a trouble ticket with the feed provider to see what the deal is, but if you've posted in the groups already it is likely that the posts will NOT go out to USENET until this issue has been resolved.
I'm not sure if they will propigate automatically once the upstream feed is allowed or if they will need to be re-posted. But I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I do.
