Perhaps they are streaming 1.4 Megabytes per second? In which case, you'd need at least a 11.2 mbps connection to keep up.

Are you using iTunes to stream it, or WMA? iTunes (for me, anyway) is awful at handling streaming radio, even after increasing the cache size.

heh, nah 11mbps is a high data rate for raw video... 1.4mbps = 2 channels * 16 bits/sample * 44,100 samples/sec.

I'm using Windows Media Player - I cranked up the buffering to 30 seconds but it didn't help... it still cuts out after a bit. It's definitely not keeping up.

<shrug> maybe everyone in the neighborhood's DL'ing pr0n this afternoon

Recently I bought a new H3 and GM was kind enough to tease me with 3 free months of XM. Since I am an 80's hair band refuge I found a station called the Boneyard that took me back to a time when I had not a worry in the world. Well my free trial is up and I am too cheap to pay for XM, so I have been sort of bummed out lately. I did a search for a good internet radio station that offered that sort of music and I came across www.live365.com which has I think 3000 different stations connected to it. There is any kind of music that you could ever want mostly free and CD quality with no commercials. If you are looking for a certain type of genre it is definately worth the look. My favorite is "Bad Hair Radio".

This radio station reminds me of Live 105 in San Fran back from like 89-92. They would broadcast live concerts on the air, brought attention to kick ass local bands (they were the first guys to play green day on the radio back when green day was a decent band) and played everything under the sun. Now they're just some clear channel clone I hear. Sad.
