Cleaning out the HD

I've got 2 hard drives: one 120gb Maxtor, and on 80gb maxtor. Both are ATA. Drive 2 is pretty much linux ISOs and some MP3s, but mostly unused, so I'm going to disconnect it, and put it in storage.

But first, I need to make space.

I have the drive partitioned into 80GB for XP, and the remainder for Tactical OS pre-alpha and various other flavors of Linux.

Lets see...what can get taken off....

Ghost Recon? Haven't used it in at least 3 months. Bye! Net savings=~4gb (had frostbite & TG mods installed)

Natural Selection? 1gb, is 1 gb. Never played the game again, after several bad experiences on our server. Definitely a "members only" thing.

Raven Sheild 3 + Iron Wrath. Challenging, but now that I have BF2 and have joined the ranks of the CS:S admins, I'm not going to get to this. Net savings=5gb.

Operation Flashpoint. Bought it for $15, never played it. Doesn't take much space, but noone is playing it, and I'm not into single player right now. Savings=1.5gb.

Unreal 2004. Love the game, finished the ladder, but good servers are scarce, and it's not worth 12gb (game, maps, mods) just in case we decided to get our act together and play.

So I saved 23 gb, plenty of room.

With some other cleaning, I've got 37gb open. Cleaned the drive, registry, and defragged, and it's peppy!

What's left?

Battlefield 2
Valve (HL, CS, HL2, CS:S, Blue Shift, Opposing Force, and a gaggle of mods)
Swat 4
Lock On
Falcon 4.

Just the games I'm going to get to.

How about you?

Brand spanking new 200BG hard drive. Right this second, BF2 and HL/NS are the only games installed. This will change.

Re: Cleaning out the HD

Wow, I'm still running with my 40GB drive. Anyone have a 80GB drive they want to sell?

Right now I've got BF2 installed for myself and Guild Wars for the wife. That's pretty much it. The time I do to game is all being spent on BF2 right now.

Re: Cleaning out the HD

Mateo... you dirty Heathen... may you burn in the fires of Hades for deleting NS.

hmm... my installed games are:

Valve library - Been competeing in TFC for several years, play CSS once in a blue moon
Red Alert II and Yuri's Revenge (I still love these)
Renegade ^ cheesy FPS to go with the above - I should uninstall it
Natural Selection - I LOVE this game but it does require a server of ppl that know how to play it with teamwork
UT2k4 - have not played in MONTHS
soldat - have not played in about a year
GTA III - killing the general public is too fun
plus about 24 GB of MP3's in full CD format ripped to -alt preset standard

Any time i get in a crunch for HDD space, I buy a new HDD That reminds me, its time to re-organize the 56 GB of porn.

-edit I forgot to mention BF2.... D'OH!

Re: Cleaning out the HD

Ah my HD -

BF2
Steam and everything that goes along with it.
Mechwarrior 4 + Black Knight + Mercanaries + IS Mech Pack + Clan Mech Pack + MekTek Mek Pack 1 + MekTek Mek Pack 2
Mechcommander
(In case you hadn't noticed I LOVE Mechwarrior/Battletech, if XP ran them I would have MW2, MW3, MC1 and all their respective expansions installed.)
Morrowind + Tribunal + Bloodmoon + a metric ton of MODs, half of which I can't get to run with each other.
UT 2004 - I don't really like this game but I had fun for a while with the original so I picked this up...oh well.
Earth 2150 + expansions
Ground Control
Command and Conquer + Zero Hour
Dues Ex
Driver
40k Dawn of War
World of Warcraft - (Cousin installed it, I don't actually have an account.)

I think thats all of it. I can't wait to get my college computer, I should really get on that. It has to be able to play BF2 and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion at the HIGH settings. Unfourtunately that probably means buying a new graphics card when Oblivion comes out.

!!!!

4est... have you played NS here?... probably THE best NS gameplay that can be found outside of competetive play.

If you have not, you must join us some time.

Re: Cleaning out the HD

Hmm... I'm a tad nostalgic and I lose CD's, so I try not to uninstall. Right now? Valve et all, Deus Ex series, Thief series, system shock 2, battlefield 2, the longest journey, starcraft, Anachronox, Vampire the masquerade bloodlines, Gothic 2, The Sims 2, Black and White, American McGee's Alice, Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich, Gish, Fallout, Unreal Gold, and Zork. I also have about a day of music and a nice amount of videos and pictures. I have most of Macromedia's stuff installed, and some Adobe things including Photoshop.
