Re: Oh god, this is disapointing... And its related to me and my life...
Welcome to tg, shackadoodl. please take some time and read the Rules, Announcments and SOP's. I hate it when im trying to go to sleep and my mind wont shut up. thinking of stratigies for games and to-do lists. ugg... it gets annoying. a hate the times when i also wake up in the middle of the night and am so tired, i dont know what time it is. i sit up and start reading randomly for an hour. i then look at my watch and see that it says 2:15 AM and im like "Oh crap!"
Wyz and Black_V!per, hope you guys can solve youre problems. |

V!per, playing online games like the ones we play subject us to prolonged periods of mid-level stress. Multiply that by the hundreds of hours we play each month, and it's no surprise that any of us have emotional disorders of some sort.
Take a break from gaming for awhile. Relax on the couch, watch TV, take walks, etc. As humans, we are not built to handle the constant attention and stress related to online gaming.

Yes, I still game, but I walk more in the lawn and watch TV... things that really help you unwind without stimulation (at least TV is one-way).

Re: Oh god, this is disapointing... And its related to me and my life...
A large problem that a lot of people have that they do not know about is our permanent exposure to low light levels. The sort you get from sitting in front of a computer, or having house lights on. This can really upset your melatonin rhythm, which is a contributer to the sleep-wake cycle. One way to counter this if you cannot go without light in the evening is to make your days brighter / invest in a dawn simulator.
Another factor is as Tempus said, the un-natural constant mid/low level stress that we are exposed to (usually from work). Humans have evolved to deal with long protracted periods of very low stress interspersed with periods of very high stress, which is physical in nature. Stress produces a hormone, cortisol, via the ACTH axis. Cortisol is fantastic in that it boosts almost every response in your system. But the 'wear and tear' it exerts on your bosy is devastating. This is why people who work in the city burn out at 30, why they tend to live a high-addiction lifestyle, and tend not to sleep a lot. Playing a competitive highly physical / contact sport at least once a week can be just as relaxing as sitting in the sun ![]() Hypnotics should only be used as a last resort, as often they exacerbate the problem in the long term. As bloodbane has demonstrated, simple lifestyle changes can make big differences in some cases. Wyz - good luck on the apnea cure. Fortunately it is something that has had quite a lot of resources poured into it to find a cure / symptom improvements, soi I hope things work out well for you. Black - tough break fortuantely Narcolepsy/Catalepsy is also an area that has recently sparked huge interest scientifically. I don't know if your doctor mentioned this (and check with him if he didn't), but taking your own scheduled daytime naps has been well documented to offset sleep attacks.

Dude.. I go play Ultimate Frisbee every Thursday night. It's pure hell while I'm playing it (Memphis Temp/Hunidity + Out of Shape + Summer + Running = Don't Eat Before You Play), but it's fun as hell.

ahh. my finger gets sore from pressing the left click on my mouse in the heat; i fell your pain.
but really, i know what a horrible day humidity can cause. in MA, itwas really humid last week and it sucked. try playing tennis around-the-world games in pratice for 30 minutes. we had a huge game and it was sunny 90 F with high humidity. |

Re: Oh god, this is disapointing... And its related to me and my life...
Ive been working on my truck latly since my computer isnt running at peek lvl, i cant up in a CD because the power used to run it will take away from my system locking it up. (Im gettin that Antec PSU i posted on a different thread"Tru 550") and other than me working on my truck ive been tinkering with my room, putting things in different areas trying to us up this space (Huge rooms, Bed Room:18*20; Satellite room 10*8"Weight room"; Bathroom 7*6) Oh ya, and ive been swimming in my pond in the back yard(I was nipped at by a cat fish)... I think i get out, im only on the computer for about 5 or so hours a day at MAX.
