Re: Harry Potter

But even his voice makes him sound like he's stoned. He had way too many words to the wise that don't really have anything to do with anything, although I will say that after Hermione and Harry returned from using the time turner, his one little line there was rather perfect. (Hell if I remember what it was, but I remember chuckling.)

Re: Harry Potter

I'd have to say it's funny b/c it's a good translation of the character from book to movie. Dumbledore always has that tendency to pretend he knows far less than he does, and it was just a small line that helped complete the character.

Ian McKellan (Gandalf) was originally going to play him. It was announced in the grown up newspapers over here, but I guess they didn't offer him enough money or something.

I had heard that too, Root. I wonder what happened?

And Batman, Uchiha covered it, exactly. He plays dumb like a pro.

We'll probably never know. There's so much rumour and counter-rumour around the HP books and films. All I know is the new guy isn't as good as the old guy, or as good as McKellan would have been.

I've listened to all 5 of them on CD. I used to have a long commute and would spend 2+ hours a day in the car. It was a great way to pass the time. Jim Dale is an excellent choice for the books-on-cd.

Re: Harry Potter

And oh man, you should have heard Apo before he got his hands on the book on CD. "Harry Potter is a kid's book- I have no interest in it whatsoever." We went to see HP2 in the theater, and I felt like I had brought him to a tupperware party. I half expected him to tell me he'd meet me in the lobby when it was over.

After he got the CD's, we went to see the Prisoner of Azkaban, and he actually cracked a smile and lightly applauded when he saw Hagrid at the staff table.

Re: Harry Potter

That's really gutless. ATLEAST PUT ***SPOILER*** IN CAPS SO IT CATCHES PEOPLES ATTENTION. Giving away endings is extremely annoying and unhumourous. It totally ruins the book for somebody if they haven't read it yet.

You are tottally wrong here. The movies are nothing but cool visual treats for the millions of people who read the books. The Books may have inittially been marketed towards children but they are in now way Just childrens books. Especially as they progress characters get older not only in age but are forced to really grow up fast due to life circustances. And times get darker.

No One who has not read the books first can go to the movie and have as poitive opinion about it as someone who has read it first.

Re: Harry Potter

The stories are targeted towards children. As is the marketing when it comes to the movies and action figures.

Shrek and Shrek2 were also targeting children, but I laughed as hard as anyone when I saw both of those movies.

Just because something was designed for one demographic doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by another.
