The accents of the world
http://classweb.gmu.edu/accent/
This site has a compilation of speakers with various native languages from different areas of the world. Since we have so many players here from various parts, it's neat to recognize some of those accents.
The Canadian samples don't have anyone saying, "aboot" so don't even try!

Re: The accents of the world
I love the Sicilian one. It reminds me of all of the Italians I grew up with.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Penny Arcade's news page as of the time of this post has some coolio linguaphile stuff on it... go check it out, and find out where in America the geographical line between "soda" and "pop" is really drawn.

That is NOT how Glasweigens speak. My extensive knowledge (from watching Trainspotting) tells me that they go "See yoo Jimmeh!" and then glass you.

Re: The accents of the world
I've listened to some of the samples they have on the site and it's a nice repository. I wouldn't take each sample for 100% true accuracy for the region's accent. I noticed that some speakers may have lived for several years in the US so it may affect their accents.
