I think an asian subforum would actually be kind of important too, come to think of it. Alot of people watch import movies, shows, read manga, etc.

Damn that just complicates things. I agree though series reviews as well would be cool. I call dibs on evey last Gundam series. crap how about we make it a general board for movie and tv series reviews throw in anime and books. (and comics and manga)

I'm going for a bunch of foreign flicks off the bat, combined with a couple classics (Reservoir Dogs and probably The Professional/Leon) mixed in. In fact I think I'll start on em right now...

I will probably go for Star Wars (all of them except for 3 I will wait for the DVD) and First Gundam, Gundam 0080, 0083, Zeta, Victory, Wing, SEED ,G Gundam, Char's Counterattack, the first gundam movie trilogy, and Gundam F91.

I heard the Zeta box set came out... some time this year, what of that? Can you still get it? Is Zeta even that good? How many Eps?

^^^Its considered by most gundam fans to be the best Gundam series ever. To me no hell no. Not thats its bad. Its just Victory Gundam is so much better. But it is the 2nd best Gundam series to me. (3rd would be the first Gundam series.) Its a 50 episode series . Taking place in the Year UC (Universal Century) 0087. It cronicles a civil war between the AEUG (Anti Earth Union Group) and the Titans (a special group in the Federation military.) I call it a civil war because most of the AEUG forces are former members of the Federation military. Yes some deserted the EFF (Earth Federal/Federation Forces) however they did it with good intentions the Titans are pretty much planning to take control of the Earth Sphere. (The region of space that contains the Earth, moon, space colonies, and any asteroids.)

Yes it was released last year but it was a low quantiy release. Gundam isn't doing too well in the US now. =\ The only way to find it will probably be ebay. Also it disappoints me to say the dub is bad and the music (ending themes and intros) could not be licensed for one reason or another so those are missing. Also by the dub being bad its not bad as in the quality sucks its bad in the sense that the studio that should have worked on it didn't. The main Ocean Group studio was working on Gundam SEED at the time. This is bad because Ocean Group worked on the First Gundam series and Char's Counterattack.

I haven't seen ZZ Gundam or Turn A Gundam. Turn A is should be good its made by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino. ZZ Gundam is an odd story though not many people like it since its really light hearted at first but as the series moves on it gets as dark as Zeta Gundam. By dark I mean that a show is serious for the most part and main characters can and will die.

Turn A Gundam takes place in the futre (duh custom we all know that) but in a future where mankind has reverted to a late 1800s early 1900s tech level. However a group of people live on the Moon. (called the Moon Race IIRC) They wanted to move back to Earth but Earth's fuedal (IIRC) lords said no because of this the Moonrace invades Earth with its advance mobile suit (a large humaniod fighting weapon primarily for space combat but it can be adapted for ground, air, and sea battles.) forces. This is an alternate universe like Wing and SEED but one of the things this show does it make a point that all of the Gundam stories are related. An example is the Earth people wage war with mobile suits they find by excavation an example is they find the Zaku II.

ZZ Gundam is the sequal/2nd season of Zeta Gundam. (pronouced Gundam Double Zeta.) The war with the AEUG and the Titans is over with an AEUG victory. However during the war Axis returned. (Axis an asteroid in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter that the Zeons use to make a military base as a way station for the Jupiter Energy Fleet. At the end of the OYW Zeon renegades travel to Axis and live there planning there return to the Earth Sphere.) Wait a min break for a Gundam history listen (I will go over this again whenever I get the review for First Gundam or I might just make it it's own thread in the movie boards when they come up.)

The Gundam universe is much like ours at some point overpopulation, resource scarcity and polution are causing alot of problems. The Earth Federation is established to help things out. The Earth Federation was formed along the lines of the United Nation (however I don't know if that means a great war caused the people of earth to decide to have a one world government but yes the EF works somewhat like the UN with a security council and a general assembly) The Federation is started in the AD timeline but at some point it decides to start a space colonization program. It decides to change the timeline to the Universal Century. At some point unfortunately the colonies start wanting independence from the Earth Federation and one of them actaully openly rebels and that is Side 3 (space colony clusters are called Sides) Side 3 is the cluster fartherest from Earth. It starts out as a republic but at some point the leader is killed and it is reorganized into a dictatorship which starts an arms build up. The Federation responed with economic santions to the republic and the 60s Armament reinforcement plan that produces the Type 61 dual 150mm MBT, converts Luna II into a military base and establishes the Earth Federation Space Force. The arms build up and dicatorship of Side 3 gets a responce in the form of the 70s Armament reinforcement plan that produces the Salamis class crusier and the Magellan class battleship. But on January 3rd UC 0079 the Principality of Zeon launches a "war of independence" against the Earth Federation. During the prewar years the Zeons developed a humaniod weapon called the mobile suit designed to fight in an era where radar has been rendered useless because of Minovsky particles (Atomic particles created by the new nuclear fusion reactors of the day.) The Zeons launch suprise attacks on Side 1, 2, and 4. The indiscrimate use of NBC weapons cause the death of alot of people and determined to win the war early the Zeons take one of the space colonies it has killed off (poison gas attacks on all of the colonies of Side 1, 2 and 4) and send it down to earth to crash land on the EFFs Jaburo HQ. It misses and breaks up in the atmosphere the largest part of it lands on Sidney, Austrilia. The Zeons try again by attacking the colonies of Side 5. The Federation meets them in battle and at the end they stop the colony drop but the EFSF fleet is pretty much anihlated and fleet commander General Revil is captured. To make a long story short the Federation eventually won the war against the Zeon but some Zeon soldiers either went into hiding or fled to axis.

Back to ZZ Gundam. Axis has returned during the Gryps War (name of the war from Z Gundam) and after the defeat of the Titans sees an oppurunity to bring back the old Principality of Zeon. Personally even though I haven't seen it I am sure it's atleast entertaining and the latter episodes (when it gets dark) should make it worth it.
