It's actually both. Civ IV will have a mode where all players move simultaneously. Now I'm not sure exactly how this works yet though.

BTW... I've already pre-ordered my copy.

According to the preview that I read, it's basically everyone has a set time in which to give their orders, and everyone does their stuff at once. Then, once all people have decided on their moves or the time runs out, everything happens at once. No idea how this will work with combat, but the previewers said that it actually felt smooth once you get used to it.

Release date is annoying. Gamespy has it listed as the 24th, yesterday. EB Games on Monday said that they pre-orders shipped on Monday, to arrive Tuesday (even though their preview boxes on the shelves say the release is mid-November still, heh). Now they say they ship Tuesday, to arrive Wednesday. Best Buy says the 27th, Thursday. That one seems the most reliable.

I was just in Best Buy in Ca and they had a display of them. Well, there were only 3 left.

I thought it was just you and me that had this game? Once CivIV comes out, I doubt I'll be spending any more time on AC...

Re: Civilization IV Support

I have AC, yet I played it when I was much younger and didnt get it too much (too complicated for me back then). I could go find it and brush the dust off.

By the way, the game is beautiful, and much has changed. Time to read the instruction book, heh.

Re: Civilization IV Support

I'm planning on picking it up tonight or tomorrow. What can you tell me about planes, helicopters and paratroopers? I saw a helicopter gunship used several times in the IGN video review and that looked pretty nice.

Re: Civilization IV Support

Hopefully i'll be picking it up today on the way home. I tried getting it from GameStop yesterday, but they only had enough copies for their pre-order customers.

I only had a chance to play it for about an hour yesterday, sadly, so I never got to those techs. I probably won't have too much time to devote to the game until the weekend.

I will say one thing though, the world sizes seem to have been scaled down. On Civ3, I played on large maps because they felt epic without giving me the feeling of being a drop in a very, very big bucket. The run I took yesterday was on the standard sized world, and it seemed pretty small. Didn't feel cramped, but did feel small.

Oh... and lots more resources and tile bonuses. Lots.
