Re: Google Mail!
There's a lot of FUD going around about this, but if Vortec came to me and said they put a supercharger upgrade kit on my truck for free and all I had to do was put a sticker on my windshield: I'd have my truck in the shop faster than Courtney Love can snort a pound of cocaine.
It's a FREE e-mail account that may catalog you and send/show you some spam. It's a lot more than the 10MB limit most other places put out, and they're mostly who is going on about the "privacy issues."
You want complete privacy? Pay for an account. "Free" is subjective. These places have to make money somehow to support us free-loaders. And I trust the guys at google more than I trust say MS Hotmail or Yahoo.

Hey, the kid swiping your Visa card might sell that information to the government. Better start buying everything with cash. :/ At some point, you have to sacrifice privacy ideals for the joys of convenience. That decision isn't new to Google Mail.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Re: Google Mail!
For those not wanting to pay for an email account, Gmail may be a great option. I have a Yahoo account and the 5 Megs wasn't nearly enough because of all the spam, even with spam deleting turned on. I paid Yahoo the $19.99 / year to get the 25 Meg space and that's been fine, but it can fill up fast if I keep attachments.

Re: Google Mail!
I think it is worth a try, Hotmail is nowhere near the service it used to be and Google has proved itself in everything else.

Re: Google Mail!
my guess is that it uses the google search engine and performs a private search for the Title of the Email, and with that it brings up the same sort of advertisments as you see on regular google.
I figure this because It's already (of course) integrating its search engine into the setup (quick-mail-locater-thingymabober)
I'll probably use it, Of course it wont be my main email, but it's one that I'd be able to check regularly... My email account I get with my $40/m broadband internet access has a 10MB limit on it... I have to download all the emails to my own hard drive in order to recieve more, A google email account would be useful in the sense that I cannot recieve emails above the 10MB limit. And its on their Hard Drives, that saves me HD space (I keep everything.... EVERYTHING)
Heck, I'd be able to forward all my current emails there If I had to reformat or whatnot, instead of wasting a CD or two.
I think the world has bigger issues to get worked up about than google. Like Bush for example. =PRAWGRLRLRLRRLGLRL!!!

Re: Google Mail!
Crap, I just noticed this, and normally I would just edit but I know some people here are forum trolls and might actually 'miss' this important message should I edit it. Anyways... I should have given an example of where my theory of the 'title' google search thing comes in, Heres the example: Look at the bottom of this forum page. These forums automatically use the search feature to locate other topics with the same keywords within them.
So when you get an email from your Stock Broker saying 'You just lost BIG on Mitsubishi Motors Stocks' google will search its 'Paid-In-Full Advertisers Database' for those words, and what do you know, Mitsubishi Motors, and Stocks will probably have multiple entries each, It puts these small ads somewhere in the browser, and poof, there ya have it.... It's only minorly intrusive at most... Most people dont have the most important, security-sensitive information in the title of emails.
Now If companies were smart, they'd register the phrase 'Send this to 12 of your friends' as one of their keywords.... They'd get mega advertisments.... freaking chains of spam emails...RAWGRLRLRLRRLGLRL!!!
