I just registered at www.gmailswap.com where there are lots of people begging for gmail accounts. I am now one of them. Actually, I offered to trade whatever personal advice/help I could offer in order to get somebody the desktop theme that they want. Kind of a spinoff of that thread in the Screenshots forum... We'll see if it works: http://www.gmailswap.com/list/read.p...=57054&t=57054

Some of the posts there are pretty funny, though!

Oh, sweet. Thanks a lot!

I guess every gmail account gets a couple of "invites" to let other people have gmail accounts. If I get one, you'll be the first person that I invite.

Yeah, I tried an app called ObjectDock, but I didn't like it... For that matter, I didn't care for the mac look at all. Too bright and shiny...

Re: Google Mail!

Diddnt Yahoo used to be powered by Google? Now It says HP, but I could have sworn I saw 'Powered by Google' down at the bottom of their pages a while back...

Back to that site, Some of those are really neat ideas... I thought for a while, what college student who has no real skills in anything would be able to do for a swap... I considered something like Naming a Star for them, but After a little research on the subject I realized I'd be as much of a scam as the company who'd have taken my money =/

blood donations already done ... bah!

Yep. Yahoo started out as a simple web directory, then it started contracting with search sites. It was with AltaVista for quite a while, then had a nice long relationship with Google. Their contract ended earlier this year, I believe. I think Yahoo is using their own search engine now. Microsoft is working on a search engine right now, as well. Google is really scaring the big boys. They're going to go public pretty soon, too. Interesting times ahead for Google.

This was a nice surprise. Granted, I never even used the 25 Mb space I had, but it was still nice to see. I primarily use the POP access to download my email using outlook. The gmail looks nice, but not sure I would ever really use it.

Yes, I've been given two "invites" and now have two gmail accounts: CingularDuality and DaTrueDave (I've been DaTrueDave since I first got on the internet/BBS' back in 1993). I haven't been offered any invitations to share yet, but you guys will be the first to know when I do!

There are a LOT of invites being handed out at www.gmailswap.com, though... I just wouldn't offer money for an account, as I understand there are quite a few scammers there, too.

Re: Google Mail!

grats cingular, I stopped after getting my one and was hoping that within a few days I'd get an invite, and I'd have sent ya one. me = caeslus@gmail.com

did I ever mention what I offered? Here I'll dig up a link, I went for the slightly humorous method instead of outright begging or BSing..

Vinzalf's Gmail Swap

It worked cuz I got a reply in 9 minutes
