I know it is only single player, which kind of sucks but you need a good single player game sometimes. Still thinking about picking it up but Ill wait for a few more patch's.

I am kind of interested in the Star Trek MMO and I have never watched Star Trek ever. I saw a interview where they were talking about the teamwork aspect of the game and it seemed really interesting. Not sure if I could ever put up with hardcore Star Trek people though.

Re: Anyone playing X3 Reunion?

X3 is not an will not be multiplayer. It is strictly a sandbox style space sim in a massive universe. The plot mostly sucks, but those of us that actually bought it knew that going in. The game is all about starting out with nothing and creating an economic/militaristic empire. The game allows you to fly anything from a small scout fighter to a transport to massive battleships/carriers, as well as build and own all manner of economic stations.

However, the learning curve is steeep, and it takes a good long time before you are powerful enough to go out whomping just about anything you see. So, unless you're into the whole sandbox create your own empire space sim type game, you will not like this game. If you do like it, you may find yourself dumping untold hours of your life into it.

There will be no patches to add multiplayer content. They are essentially done with the game with patch 1.3, and have said so themselves. They are looking at making an expansion with unknown content, as well as working on a possible MMO in the X universe that would be like eve with real combat.

Indeed it does. I've not had the problem myself, because I refuse to buy any software that supports it. But I guess you could say "a friend of a friend of mine..." has had major problems since he installed a starforce enabled game.

For the simple fact Starforce is part of the package, I wont be buying it. Although I was actually pretty excited about the game and was so very close to buying it... It's a crying shame when anti-piracy software becomes a deterrent to those who actually want to buy they games they want to protect :/

Yup. The main reason why I won't buy it as well. Which is a shame because it looks like it could be a cool game.

And its not the point of using anything illegal, I don't have a single game I didn't pay for. Its the point that Starforce embeds itself into your system and ruins things. Its been proven to destroy HDD's. The program is very intrusive.

Re: Anyone playing X3 Reunion?

Just to provide counter-anecdotal evidence, I've had 8 Starforce'd games across 3 computers (Trackmania on 3, Etherlords on 1, X2 on 2, X3 on 1 .... Bet on Soldier (preview build was Starforced, can you believe that crap) and Space Rangers 2) now, with never an issue. Am I happy about how they do business? Not really, but I won't let that stop me playing what I want to play.

X3 is much like X2, but the interface is head-and-shoulders above that of X2. They finally figured out how to use the mouse, and the context menus don't hurt either. If you ever want a space-based economy sim + combat + exploration and don't mind a learning curve, X3 is a pretty good bet. The letter J is your friend (time acceleration ).
