First of all......BUMP!

Okay peeps, we're getting close now... I'm very excited about seeing everyone and this is just a friendly reminder to those who haven't put into the kitty. Thanks to the following for making their payments already:
Rincewind
StrikeFear
Beatnik
Sassy
and of course me, Sugar,

Only three weeks to go, so get your money in quick! I'll make a deadline later, but I know people are still reeling from the holidays, so it's cool. Hope everyone had a fabulous holiday! I'm still in the freezing cold north, but will be back in the States by Jan. 5th, and will be SOOO ready to play some BF2 that weekend. See y'all around soon!

I haven't paid up yet, but that's because I have some doubts on whether I can attend (not sure when new job is starting). As soon as I found out that I'll have time to come, I'll send ya the funds.

Sure, Bonehead -- we'll see what the response to this one is like, and maybe plan the next one for the summer sometime...

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

I need to know if any DFW folks are going to be needing a ride down there. I plan on trying to take Friday off, and heading down in the early afternoon. If I can't get the day off, then I'll be leaving Dallas around 10pm.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to be uber-frugal and sleep in my truck, or if I'm going to get a room. Either way, I plan on showing up at Beatnik's house at 3am to use his shower!

Does the original tentative schedule still look good to everyone?

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

Cool.
Suggestion: Let's meet at TGIF at the Arboretum on Friday. Parking will not be a hassle, nor will traffic. 6th street is pretty hectic on Fri nights, as I'm sure you can imagine. Also, the Arboretum has an Amy's Ice Cream. mmmm.... Amy's. Good people. Naughty Ice Cream. Thoughts?

Also, remember I've volunteered to acquire some BBQ supplies, and to provide rides for the non-locals.

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

Arboretum parking not a hassle?
:P
I'll warn you all though that the parking is a bit tight over there. I'm willing to give rides too I guess. I live about 4.5 miles away from the arboretum. I'll try and get pictures tommorrow or so, or I could go out tonight and take pictures of the parking.

My REAL name is "Eric" ... too. I'll respond to mish though most of the time to avoid confusion.

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

Has anyone seen this place? This may be a little more to game, but 5 hours = $5/hr to play on 21 inch monitors with what sound like decent rigs. I can see if they have group rates if anyone is interested.

http://www.cyberjocks.com/

I'm looking forward to this. Strike I volunteered to help with the food - either pick up or cook (or both - I like to cook so it's not a problem). Hit me up if we need to coordinate. I'm thinking super walmart or costco for the supplies.

EDIT/UPDATE:

I just spoke with Cyberjocks and we can get 2 private rooms (only 6 rigs per room), BYOB (Bring your own Beer/Bawls) with the 21 inch monitors for $20 all nite Saturday, or however many PCs we need in their main room for $15 all nite. Rigs are definitely sufficient for good BF2 - A64/1 gig ram/nVidia 6800's. Sunday all day is $15/person for <12 people, $10 for 12 or more. This sounds like a great deal and the staff seems very friendly/cooperative, and may be interested in joining up with us on server 1 some time. I've e-mailed the guy I spoke with the link to this thread, too.

I'm thinking the main room option sounds like a great deal, and if they're busy pull some other people in the room onto Server 1 with us. Maybe get some new TGers.

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

Also, I saw the location of Kat'z on 6th and I think it's far enough west of the strip to not have parking be a problem. I'm at a coffeeshop near there and will drive by on my way home to see it in person.

Let's try to set up an 'event' on Server 1 (i.e. an announcement in the BF2 General Discussion Forum) encouraging TG regulars to play next Sat nite/Sunday afternoon.

Re: TX LAN Party -- Update/Roster

CyberJocks map.
http://maps.google.com/maps?q="Galleria+Oaks+Shopping+Center"+in+austin,+ tx
The place is very near to where I live.
I've looked in the windows before, but haven't gone in. The place is brand new, and looks really cool - 'cept for one thing. It looked to me like they didn't even think to do something about monitor glare from the windows.
For that reason alone, I think the private rooms might be better.
Beatnik - Did you mean $20/room? or 2 rooms for $20?

Yeah, Beat - call me or email. Sassy was gonna PayPal me the budget for stuff to get locally (briquets, meat, etc). If you have a costco membership, that's sweet.
