Re: Guitar Hero
Exactly. And you don't need a PS2 if you have a *real* guitar, which is the only way any of you can hope to try and emulate me

Re: Guitar Hero
I felt the need to revive this thread. It is interesting to see a little history of where I was. I have moved past the 4th group on hard.

I have been stuck at CfH for a long time. I don't even try it anymore because 11% is a depressing number. One day, I will conquer that song.
Looking forward to the sequel.

Re: Guitar Hero
Well I guess this deserves another revive as I am about to pick it up. I've been looking for something to play during the day/early evening that I can pick up play for a couple of minutes and then bounce. I've heard nothing but great things about it and so I've decided to pick it up especially after being turned to the band Dragonforce by one of my friends.

Re: Guitar Hero
This game receives my full endorsement. My friends Chris asked me to try it. I felt it was going to be pretty lame. After one song, I was hooked. I bought it two days later.
I played a little guitar back in the day, this game is nothing like it. In fact, I'm better at this game than my friend Bryan who plays both Bass AND Guitar (quite well I might add).
Just like DDR won't teach you to dance, and Big Game Hunter won't teach you how to shoot (I can pull 49/50 in trap in the game, yet I average 17/25 with my 12-gauge) Guitar Hero is not a simulator. It's a game. A very well designed game.
Now that Chris has left his guitar over at my place, it's a staple at every party I have. People make fun of us playing, then they try it. Game on.
The sequel comes out in November.
One Question: What's everyone's high score on Unsung on Hard? My max is 275,000 and I average 250,000. I'll post a picture of the score-board, but none of my friends (they max at 175,000, which I can pull on 2 player) can't even come close to that. I'm interested to see how other people score.

Re: Guitar Hero
I'll check when I get home. Unsung is one of the easier songs, so I've probably scored pretty well on it. It's all about not slipping up on the long repetitive strings.

Re: Guitar Hero
Ive only played for an hour and Im already hooked. What a great game. the only reason I stopped was that my wrists started to hurt and I need to finish some errands.

Re: Guitar Hero
I've been mulling over picking up a PS2 for DDR, so is this an extra incentive? Worth buying a PS2 for?

Re: Guitar Hero
I'd place guitar hero as a selling point if someone was on the fence of getting the system. Spending about/almost $200 (system and guitar hero)to play a game is a bit expense but if you are interested in picking up other games for PS2 as well either now or down the road then I would say its definitely worth it.

Re: Guitar Hero
I was prepared to buy a PS2 to play this game, but I lucked out and acquired two broken PS2's and made them into one working PS2. I don't think used PS2 prices are going to drop much more, so you can pick one up, play GH and GH2, then sell the package off without losing much.
GH2 is going to rock with multiplayer guitar+bass.Peace through fear... since 1947!

Re: Guitar Hero
If I bought a GC for Zelda: WW and Metroid Prime, I would have bought a PS2 for Guitar Hero: But I already owned one.

Re: Guitar Hero
OMG can't believe i just noticed this thread. I bought GH about a month ago with a PS2. I absolutely love this game
. Beaten all of expert exept for Bark at the moon and Frankenstein. Finished all of hard and 5 starred most of the songs(damn you texas flood).
I'm actually thinking about getting a real guitar in the near future. What do you guys who really play think of this one?
