Re: Guitar Hero
Ok, anyone have any experience ordering stuff from Lik-Sang? I really don't want to buy a second TV to play DDR and/or Guitar Hero....they have a PS2 to XGA convertor, which means I could use my PC LCD, but I hesitate to order from Asia.

Re: Guitar Hero
I've had some friends order from Lik-Sang. They say the service is good enough. Shipping takes a while though of course.

guitar hero 2
EDIT: Im alreayd loving this game. Im about to finish easy but Ive already found myself picturing a song I hear on the radio as if it was in the game. Right now, "More than a Feeling" is my favorite song to play.

Re: Guitar Hero
This is a two part post. First I cant say enough about this game, Im 3/4 through medium but am already addicted to that moment where it feels like your fingers are completely seperate from your brain and you just run through a part perfectly and have no idea how it happened.
I was also wondering, for those of you who have guitar hero, what you named your band? When the screen popped up and I was thinking of a name, I happened to look up at my DVD collection and Tombstone jumped out at me so I went with it as my band's name. I was wondering how other people chose their names.

Re: Guitar Hero
For the amount of time some people play this game, they could probably become a decent guitar player. I could play all of the rhythm parts and most of the melodies to all the popular smashing pumpkins' songs after about 10 hours of messing around with a guitar and cd player. It probably helped that I had 12 years of prior violin training, but put in enough practice and anyone can play basic rock songs on the guitar - you really don't need all that much musical training.
However, I can see how this could be a fun game for a group of people at a party or whatever.

Re: Guitar Hero
It is fun at parties, but the problem is that you have to let other people have a turn, and that sucks.

I picked the game back up for a bit today and burned off a few of my fav songs. I really can't wait for GH2.
Oh and as for playing real guitar, learning to play basic chords for simple songs is nowhere near as gratifying as 5-starring Bark At The Moon on medium difficulty for the first time.

Re: Guitar Hero
Well, I've had the game for just over a week and am 4 songs into Hard. I 5 starred all of the easy songs and about 20 of the medium songs. I have two problems though. First, how do you position your fingers on the frets to play the five frets? Second, The toughest part of the game for me is hitting all of the notes and or cords in long strings. How do you guys do it?

Re: Guitar Hero
Ah yes, the transition to hard... You'll get used to it. There's really no trick. For some parts of some songs, you will be comfortable with the 4 fingers on GRYB, with the pinky stretching for the oranges, and for others, you will want RYBO with the index finger stretching for the greens. After a little while on hard and expert, your hand will become detached and you will just know where the right buttons are most of the time.

I was brutally bad at those long repeating stretches, but again it is something that just comes to you. You have to be relaxed and confident that you will hit the notes. A little head bobbing to keep the rhythm might help. I also find that long stretches are easier to nail with up and down strumming. Also, make sure you can hear the background music well enough.Peace through fear... since 1947!

Re: Guitar Hero
By the way, everyone into GH should check out vgsplayer. Run the program with your GH dvd in your drive, and it'll play the songs for you and let you slow down the fast sections to help figure out the finger movements. The latest version includes some playability if you have an adaptor for your GH controller.

Re: Guitar Hero
I am not a fan of this game but I came across this link and thought you guys might be interested in a game similar to Guitar Hero that can be played on a keyboard.

Re: Guitar Hero
I love this game. I've only played it at friends' houses so far (can't afford it), but it's very intense, and much more fun to play with other people present. Licking the guitar from the base of the neck to the head while you throw down some wicked riffs is probably the greatest feeling in the world.
