Re: A SETI reminder
I have meant to do this forever.
A buddy had it running on his laptop at work the other day and I saw it just before heading home... I finally remembered at the right time. lol
I have it on 2 PCs as of 2 nights ago. Tonight I stopped this rig to install the new X2 4800+.
I then recalled something here at TG on the periphery of my sights some time ago, so I looked it up and joined the team.
Nothing impressive in 2 days but I are here!

Re: A SETI reminder
You can't even tell it's running.
I cranked up another pc here in the "office" and one upstairs(my momma's).
I'll put it on dad's Friday and will see how 5 puters helps the cause.
Les find us some ETI!
I guess I might should hide the computers, but for now:

Re: A SETI reminder
I used to run this way back when, years ago really back when the project was getting started. Just reinstalled. Don't know why I ever stopped.

Re: A SETI reminder
I now see why we don't want our computers available to everyone.
Could a mod edit my last post and remove the link to my computers please? Thanks.

Re: A SETI reminder
Nothing actually happened.
Originally I noticed that most of the TG team have their computers hidden. I wondered why.
Then I go to looking around and realize the page will give the external as well as the internal IP addresses of the machines.
I don't think it's likely someone would use the info to attempt to get into my network but I'm anal about security. No sense in tempting any evildoers.

Re: A SETI reminder
AHH.. OK.. Ya freaked me out there for a sec. It actually took me awhile to figure out how to block the info. I actually can't even remember how I did it now. I wasn't too worried about it because the defensive measures I have in place for the 7 or 8 clients I have runnning are pretty good.
I don't fool myself of course.. if someone had malicious intent.. they could bring down my network, but that is why I have plan B, plan C, and if needed - plan D.
One day.. when I'm feeling cocky, I'll have Apo, Wyz or someone else P-test stuff I have exposed. I trust my TG mates...
