Photography

I know that there are a few shutterbugs here at TG, so, instead of searching for one, I thought I'd ask if anyone here knows of a good beginners tutorial for photography. Looking for both technical operation of an SLR as well as the basics of composing a photo.

Hopefully some of you also read some photography forums and know just the place to send me!

Thanks!

Re: Photography

Are you working with a 35MM SLR or a Digital SLR?

Re: Photography

Everything I've ever learned I picked up on DigitalPhoto Review, or DPReview.com. They have a very active user community (beginners, amatures, pro), guides, and best of all reviews of just about every digital camera out there. And by review I mean dissection.

If you hang out there, you'll pick up a lot.

I don't know a lot about online communities for film users. But if you're using digital, then head to dpreview.com

Re: Photography

The books that had the biggest influence on me where:

The Art of Photographing Nature by Art Wolfe
http://www.artwolfe.com/cgi/shop/detail.cgi?r=BO01

and John Shaw's Landscape Photography
http://www.johnshawphoto.com/books.htm

Beyond that, find a good photo forum to post your photos, get critiques and learn from the photographers you admire.

This is mostly for my wife, but I'd like to learn the basics, too. She's got two Canon EOS Rebels, one 35mm and one is the Digital XT.

Nice work Gixxer I took 3 years of photography in high school and started to do it in college but it got way to expensive. I did some weddings and some other stuff for a bit but I just couldn't afford all the supplies. The wedding collages and the baseball shot was good also. Nice work

Thank shot was taken at Laguna Seca Raceway in California last July during the AMA/ MotoGP round.

I currently shoot for a local "TRACK DAY" company that rents tracktime out to people who wish to ride on a different selection of tracks.

Sportbike Track time

I use to race with them but now I shoot the bikes for them and their customers purchase prints and CD's from me ....

My website is here: Split Second Photo

Yeah Drizzid,

I use to shoot FILM way back when but now that digital is the "THING" it is a lot more affordable until you get into the HIGH-END cameras like the one I have 1DMKII

And now being that Digital Cameras have made photography much more affordable, it has made Photography as a business MUCH more competitive !!!
