Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

SEVEN MONTHS???

Why do they see it fit to do crap like this?!
It happened with Jericho for me, and I just lost all interest...

No kidding. And how is 7 or 8 months "soon"?

Great episode, although there was enough content to make it another 30 or 60 minutes longer.

So, what do you think, was that earth after we've annihilated ourselves? Or yet another trick on the producers/writers part?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

I've got addicted to BSG just this season. I enjoyed every minute of the show, but I think this last episode was rushed...

I understand that they wanted to leave it a mystery and all but (SPOILER ALERT) They could have easily added it into a second episode. One more clue or something. Not just a mad dash to the airlock and then we're home!

I'm not sure if it was the writers strike or what happed exactly but it seemed like the episode was non stop action great twists and trying to fit way to much into a single hour of TV only to leave you at the end with "What The Frak?" anti-climatic blah.

Sorry but from the time Kara Thrace discovered the signal to the end it was all a blur... It just seemed rushed.

I just hope that whenever they finish the story it is a good ending, not a 'to be continued' type ending.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

I bought season 1 & 2 last week and have begun watching them. I watched the first season pretty much straight through. The second season is going a little slower due to outside interference. (doesn't my wife understand!!!!!)

I've never seen a show on TV... but I don't have cable.

Good series so far.

They had been planning to do season 4 in 2 parts, continuing next year, so I doubt the strike had anything to do with how this half season ended.

I do agree that the pacing was a bit odd this season, there were a few episodes where absolutely nothing happened, and the "finale" should have been 2 hours.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

Wait, was that the final episode of the show? What more is going to happen now that they've found the barren wasteland called Earth? I seriously thought that was the finale, and somehow they just forgot to mention who the last cylon was. These last 2 episodes were awesome regardless.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that. Did anyone else start looking for half a Liberty buried in the rubble?

While 7 months sounds long, it means I'll have lots of time to get caught up on other things.

SG:A will be out shortly (comic book SF), along with Eureka (pretty decent). Then we'll get all the returning shows in the Fall along with whatever derivative dreck the networks churn out as "new".

Those of you who complain about 7 months must not read much. That's a lot shorter than the typical delay between novels in series.

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

It was a really awesome episode, but yeah, the ending was a wee bit anti-climatic.

BTW, from here on in, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, if you have spoilers in your post, put [WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD] tag on it.

EDIT: Scratch, you're not alone in the search for Lady Liberty. Was also looking for Charlton Heston...

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

One thing I do find irritating is BSG's assumption that whole planets have a single weather pattern, like they're no bigger than a city.

I remember seeing a list of common shortcomings of film SF, and this was on the list. Anyone remember the list I'm thinking of?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

I think I do.
But what do you mean?
What planets do you speak of?

Re: Battlestar Galactica Watchers?

BUt, their were plants, and no one was dropping dead from radiation and in theory its been thousands of years since whatever war spanked the planet, so its not impossible that they can replant what they have on the ships they could rebuild but that aside i'm interested in them filling in their own history that was obviously lost in the divides between the colonies.

This is true for most Sci-Fi, there just isn't enough time to develop the entire unique culture or geography of a planet. Even though most planets are probably roughly the same size as Earth, there's no way they could ever explore more than a city or two, and a single culture or religion on each planet and still have time to do anything else.

This is painfully obvious in Stargate, where planets only exist as the few square miles around the stargate. Anything beyond is very rarely discussed as even existing.
