that is true i guess cutting edge is always good, that F9F was good, i certainly like the F6F in Aces high!

cutting edge is good, however since these displays are "just" for recruiting pilots the UK doesn't put much funding into them at all, But then the plane the red arrows use is perfect for the job and looks good too. I cant imagine having fun watching 9x EF2000 or tornado's doing these displays.

The fact that the EU is trying to cut our forces down, and merge them with a joint EU force is really disheartening...because the first thing to go would be the red arrows.

Right, well, I'm impressed by the fact that the Blue Angels can be ready for combat in their own planes in less than 24 hours. I missed the Red Arrows flying in a tight, inverted formation above the audience... I would think that aerobatics would be easier in older, slower planes, too?

I dunno.... I'm probably being too patriotic, too? I grew up right next to Davis Monthan AFB until I was 6 and then 10 minutes away from Miramar, and got to see the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels all the time.

In terms of having to contend with the speed of the aircraft, sure. However, newer planes would respond to inputs with more precision, and would most probably have more advanced flight control computers to handle things such the trim, flaps, etc.

EDIT:
Then again, the trainer aircraft which the Red Arrows use are extremely adept at low-level, fast maneuvering.

Yeah, most of their demonstrations are above empty airfield, but they definitely fly over the spectators, too!

Don't forget there are newer, slower planes too.

Check out these series of video clips showing a civilian taking a flight with the Blue Angels... some good incidents in there.

Grab falcon AF and come join us.

The Red Arrows use the Hawk Trainer which is a surprisingly capable AC. It can pull around the same amount of G's as an F16. That video was a bit naff really - I'm wondering if they had to do a 'flat' show (crappy weather in the UK makes things a bit more difficult). They used to practice over my grans when I was a kid and did much better stuff than that.
