Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. I know what you mean. I've watched big fireworks shows in San Francisco (put on by Lucas) from across the water in Berkeley, and one gets the same delayed "KABOOM".
Alas, there's no evidence in the water of the shockwave. Too much wind to see it, I guess. It's one of the neat things to look for when watching video of nuclear tests.

It was very window out yesterday, there was some question regarding them even going forward with the demolition.
Speaking of video of nuclear tests, have you seen Trinity & Beyond? It's a rather good movie that shows a lot of recently declassified (and declassified specifically for the film) footage of various nuclear tests.

No, haven't seen that one. When I was at MIT I attended a lecture by Doc Edgerton who showed his photography of some of the tests. It was a fascinating lecture. For instance, there are visible features on the surface of the expanding cloud that are in fact vaporized parts of the concrete and steel box holding the H-bomb.

It's well worth the purchase. It's an excellent video that gives all the history from the benchmark tests and the initial Trinity explosion all the way through to modern day tactical nukes including tactical thermonuclear artillery shells.

Similar video of the Kingdome in Seattle being imploded. My favorite part is how you can see the lines of explosives light up one by one.

Re: Demolition of the Jamestown Bridge in Rhode Island
I was thinking the same thing.
Then came the visual of Cing snuggling up to Apophis on a couch, under a blanket, and I decided it was in the best interests of myself and whatever was immediately in front of me to abandon that entire line of thinking.

Re: Demolition of the Jamestown Bridge in Rhode Island
Only the center span of the bridge was removed. Today they are blowing up one of the ramps that led up to the central span. In a couple weeks they are doing the other ramp.
