    Re: The beer thread

I did not bother to read every page of this so if this beer made it in here then it deserves a second mention:

    STONE RUINATION
    100+ IBU's
This is a Double IPA second to none. So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. The moment after the first swallow, all other food and drink items suddenly become substantially more bland then they were just seconds before. By the time you develope a taste for this IPA, you may find that you are permanently ruined from being able to enjoy lesser brews.
I find that after I drink a few drinks of my first one, my taste buds are so wrecked that I can drink the beer as if it were a light beer. Pricey at $16 a 6 pack though.

Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss Premium - A great German wheat

Thomas Hooker Irish Red Ale - A simple smooth and delicious brew

You might be able to find these depending where you live (US). The Julius Echter perhaps more likely, but if you have a decent relationship with your local packy (sorry, new england slang for liquor store) you can ask to see if they will order for you.
This is likely the case for most of the beers discussed in the thread, if you frequent the same store, the people there (the owners) probably recognize you (as an alcoholic).
This also assumes you go to the mom and pop shops, support local business!

Q: How many members of Congress does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: None. There is nothing wrong with the lightbulb; its conditions are improving every day. Any reports of its lack of incandesence are delusional spin from the liberal media. That lightbulb has served honorably, and anything you say undermines the lighting effort. Why do you hate freedom?!?

    Re: The beer thread

I've got a few different brews in the fridge right now that I'd never tried before but am enjoying.

Lion Stout - I'm not a big fan of too many Stouts, but this one is pretty darn good. Great flavor, but with a relatively wicked kick.

Alaskan 'Winter' - I've been a big fan of Alaskan Amber for years, and had never seen their Winter brew until this year. Says it's brewed with Spruce tips, which seemed really weird to me, but it taste AWESOME!!!

'World's strongest' beer with 32% strength launched
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/s...st/8380412.stm

A controversial Scottish brewery has launched what it described as the world's strongest beer - with a 32% alcohol content.

Tactical Nuclear Penguin has been unveiled by BrewDog of Fraserburgh.

BrewDog was previously branded irresponsible for an 18.2% beer called Tokyo, which it then followed with a low alcohol beer called Nanny State.
    Flying Kerberos Tripel Specialty Beer
    http://www.flyingdogales.com/Beer-Sp...-Kerberos.aspx

Named after the mythical beast that guards the gates of hell… Kerberos is a traditional Belgian-style Tripel with a dark golden color & has a sweet flavor with a dry and spicy finish. This nectar of the Gods is deceptively strong at 8.5% and is bottle conditioned for an authentic flavor.

Brewing Scandal over [expletive deleted] beer
    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-RSS&ATTR=News

[Brewery spokesman Stefan Fellenberg] added that if F**king Hell beer was a success they planned to open similar small breweries in the neighbouring German towns of Kissing, Petting, W**k and Piss.

    Personally my list is:

    - McAuslan Pumpkin beer (yes pumpkin) has a spicy-gingery taste.
    - Most Unibroue beers but soft spot for Green apple or Raspberry Ephemere, Raftman (whisky malt beer) or a Maudit with a nice pepper sauce steak.
    - McEwans (Sotch beer)
    - Mystique (Apple cider beer)

    And my top three:
    - Pumphouse Scotch Ale (Don't think it is available in the US)
    - Pumphouse Blueberry Ale (Don't think it is available in the US)
    - Mort Subite Raspberry lambic (Expensive but well worth it.)

OK, I think it's a Coors brew, but I drank quite a bit of Blue Moon while in Vegas a few weeks back, and I've got to say it was pretty good for a macro-brew. Better than Killian's Red, even (my 2nd favorite from the big breweries).

    Rogue Dead Guy Ale

    Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale

Two awesome, awesome brews. I'm not one for an overly hopped beer, but I like the complexity and flavor they usually have. These two strike a great balance.

    Re: The beer thread

You can get it at most liquor stores that have a half decent beer selection.
