Re: Important Announcement about Tactical Gamer

when you say current subscriptions cant be transfered.. does tha mean i loose the remainder of my time?

it doesnt really matter i think i have like a month or two left, and if it creates problems thn bring on ay pal and i will be sending my money through as soon as you need it.

further more if you need donations, again let me know i am not rich by any means but il give what i can to ensure the change is swift and flawless..

I didn't realise so much goes off behind the scenes, well done on keeping everything running so smoothly and I'm sure we will all bear with the team while changes take place

yeah i know i dont want my money back.

TG can keep it, it may go towards a server or something i dont know... im happy to pay for a new membership on top of the one i have... like i said its like 2-3 months.. pennies really
if it serves a better cause with them.. its all yours... i said this in the second thread.

and pls paul let us know i am sure we can have a whipround of a few bucks to help you out for the switch.. i certainly dont want you to have to get second best... even more so from me in England...

oh thats a question, is the new service as fast as the old or do i have to grin and bare while the community grows.

Re: Important Announcement about Tactical Gamer

unfortunately, my contributions to the community lately has been limited to my shining personality here.

I do, however, control a full T1 (well, thats true to an extent.... 512 of it is dedicated voip. but 1 meg up and down is nothing to sneeze at) that I would happily loan/rent out during times of lesser use. I hope this will in some way repay all of the amazing things you and this community have done for me over the past 2 years.... (omg its been 2 freakin years.) I am online on aol, yahoo, and icq a lot of the time now.

Total, LT_Bob and I have spent enormous amounts of time and resources trying to build Network 42. Unfortunately it's been a very difficult process. But because of the very support shown in this thread, I know that Tactical Gamer can continue even after Network 42 passes. Hey, it existed for years before N42, and with the support of the Tactical Gamer community it will exist for years after.

Stay tuned for more information! But keep those support posts coming, I'm sure it will go a long way to let the Network 42 partners know all the effort wasn't for nothing!
Paul,
You know I've supported you in your endeavors for the 6-7 years I've known you. That will never end whatever you decide to do in the future. I love what this community has grown into and I'll support it for as long as I'm capable.

I do have to say though, my wife and I have reconciled and have decided to purchase a house as soon as we can find one that meets our needs/budget. I may have stop my donation if finances become to tight to afford the house. I do consider this "a good cause" though and my dollars spent here will be one of the last things to cut, well that and Roadrunner

so what was N42's downfall? any lessons learned that other folks aspiring to start a small biz can take away from this?

That could vary depending on who you ask.. But personally. I would say focus.

Focus on what your core product/service is, and work towards meeting the goals needed to become profitable in that area. Spreading yourself too thin in too many areas makes it all much harder to do. Once all the dust settles I'll fill you all in on some of the really neat projects and ideas that we came up with that never materialized. Some of it is some REALLY good stuff, albeit a bit technical. :-)

Re: Important Announcement about Tactical Gamer

I've been here since October 2002 and I will continue to play here as long as it is an option. In the time that I have been here, I've RARELY played on another server group at ALL. Once you start playing at a place like this, you start to become spoiled.

I will continue to donate to TG for as long as I possibly can. You have my support every step of the way. You are all really great people, and I truly am honored to be able to have fun with you guys. I know things may be rough right now, but everything usually works out in the end.

It's never to late to start again. A new focus may bring in many more people to our servers, and we can always take it from there. TG can never be replaced by any server; I hope we can stay strong and bear this big change. I know I can.

Thank you Apophis, Total, and Lt. Bob for everything you have done for us and the haven you've provided us to enjoy online gaming. I will be there every step of the way to help in any way I can. Good luck on your future endeavors, and I hope to see this place really take off soon!

Sincerely,
Mike Marotti

Re: Important Announcement about Tactical Gamer

Someone has all ready said it but change IS inevitable. Sometimes you initiate it and sometimes necessity initiates it, regardless it happens.

Thank you for having the dedication and desire to continue this community. This is the first place I've ever played online and with the exception of venturing off for a tournament with other TG'ers the only place I've played. Can't imagine finding something to replace this.

Change in my life has prevented me from being around much playing in the last 6 months but change again will eventually free up time to play again. Its just nice to know that when time is available TG is here.

Thank you Paul, Total and Lt. Bob for all you've done. I know it has to be hard to reach the point that you have to put down a dream but just look at this community, you have in now way shape or form failed. You have brought people to together from all over the world and enabled friendships to be created, many for myself. A legacy that will be yours forever is that you created a community and enabled friendships that will last. Sounds like sucess to me!

Thank you!

I for one will be a part of the Tactical Gamer community for years to come.

Respectfully.

That was the downfall of my first business too. Since then I have read a lot of small business books and line exstention (adding more and more products) and lack of focus are a big reason companies fail. I'm having a hard time with that and memory.net right now. Its easy to see other things you think you can make money on, but its best to narrow in on one thing until its running full steam. My friend always uses the magnifying glass as an example. If you put it in the sun it does nothing, but if you aim it just right and focus its power it will start fires.

Re: Important Announcement about Tactical Gamer

So long and thanks for all the fish, I guess.

I'll be around to see what's up with TG in the future.

Pretty much ditto what everyone else said, but just thought I would add quantity, since I can't add much quality.

And yes, call on us if you need something to set-up the newest incarnation of TG. We will do what we can, which I figure could be quite a bit, all told.

Thanks for your continuing work. It has ment a lot to me, and my compadres.
