#1 "What to expect when you are expecting". Good book that goes week by week explaining how your wife's body and baby's body is going to change.

#2 "What to expect the first year". Same as above but it is for the first year of the kid's life.
Add this one to the recommendations.

The negative reviews say that the book portrays men in a bad light. I say that the lighting is fine, and it's the men who are bad.

Best thought ever from it (in case you don't read it): Get your wife a gift, maybe a necklace with the birthstone in it or something.

me and the wife actually didn't like that second one... seems like it just add's to the anxiety - brings up ALL these things to be worried about and watch out for..... and the lists of what's safe and not safe are kinda crazy too... kids can't eat anything these days until their like 5! seems like the only thing experts agree won't kill your kid is organic free-range fair-trade bananas.

Yeah, Whiskey brings up a good point. However, use common sense and you will be fine.

When we brought home our first kid we were scaraed crapless. We didn't know what to do. I caught myself looking for the manual that was taped to his back. The first night we put him on top of two pillows in between us in the middle of the bed and just stared at him. 1/2 in awe and 1/2 scared. By the time the third one rolled into the house it was much different.

Morgan James Schmidlin. 5lbs 15oz 20" long. I have never heard a baby scream and cry so loud when he came out and was getting cleaned off. He was definetly giving those nurses hell.

And when the nurses are no longer there, guess to who he's going to give hell?
