Steam sucks..
.. down every game at once, it would seem, and for no good reason? Or did each of these titles release new versions tonight? CS 1.7, anyone?
No fresh install here, no re-install, no deleted files, no nothing. I played NS last night, finished as I do every night by closing Steam, and went to sleep.
I simply open Steam this evening, and BAM... away it went.
lol.. what can you do but laugh?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Steam is Valve's delivery mechanism for games. It's apparent, about once a week for those of us that use it daily, that they're still ironing out the design despite having deployed it several months ago.

Somewhere - I think from the games screen under properties for each game - you can tell Steam not to keep game x up to date. I told it that for every game (as I hardly play anything but NS) and.... it downloads the updates anyway.
I hates it.Former TGNS admin until WoW blinded me with flashy lights.

And it's authentication mechanism, and it's anti-cheat mechanism, and it's eventual bankruptcy mechanism (I hope)...

I love steam. Much faster than the WON system, but steam (being released a little over a year ago, or more) Still has bugs, and they are still updating it. Soon, I hope for them to have a great product for delivery. I rarly have problems with it, and have had much more problems with WON.

Yeah, Steam is a pain in the ass but imagine how many people are going to be flocking to buy Half-life2 despite the frustrations they've had try to connect to their friends list. One of those great in thoery but not so hot in practice all the time type things.
