Re: Steve Irwin
Your post is a comforting snapshot of the public persona of Steve Irwin we all knew and loved.
I'm most sad for his offspring...It's good he died doing something he loved but that won't make a difference to a young child longing, needing the loving presence of a father she'll never get to see again. Truly Sad...sad...|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Steve Irwin
Feel's like i've lost a friend, i loved watching him on TV and impersonating him with friends around, what am i going to do now? It feel's wrong just thinking about it. He was a great man, at least he died doing what he loved the most, working with wildlife.

Re: Steve Irwin
Indeed sad news to wake up to this morning. He did so much to raise public awareness and changed how conservation centers are developed and managed around the world.
There are a lot of kids out there that found out they lost a 'friend' today.

Re: Steve Irwin
Awww, crikey.
A sad day indeed.
The Croc Hunter brought animal conservation to the forefront of American (if not world) awareness once again. His show on Animal Planet is one of the few TV shows that I actually watch. Some people live their lives to teach kids, some to carry a gun and protect their country, others fix leaky pipes, a few risk their lives flying into outer space. Steve lived to bring all of us closer to animals.
And he lived well... He'll not be forgotten anytime soon.Become a supporting member!

Re: Steve Irwin
He lived his life no matter how long or short it is and once his children grow up and are able to understand what he stood for and what he lived for then they will understand. That is the victory! Answers are not always clear in the short term but his children will see what a great man, teacher, and father they had. Thoughts and prayers to his wife Teri and children

Re: Steve Irwin
It turns out Steve Irwin's death was videotaped. I really hope this doesn't end up YouTube. It would be a disgrace.

Re: Steve Irwin
It is strange how you feel that you know a person when the only place you know him from is on TV. My GF and I just talked about this and it feels like we lost of a friend(albeit not a close one). It's natures strange twist making him fall victim to a creature that normally does not attack humans. Who would have thought that....
My sympathies goes to his family.--

Re: Steve Irwin
It's comforting in a way to see all the reactions people are having to this event. This is a man we might have made joke of last week in fun imitating his speech and behavior. While I know I wouldn't see it here, it suprises me to see the reaction people in general have. In places I'd expect people to make fun of his death I see words of respect and admiration. In places where serious tones are so rare I see the laughter silenced and a pause of thought and sincerity for this great man's passing.
It shows a statement of the man. He made us smile, he taught us, he gave us a chuckle as he gave us so much education. He seemed to act a fool but was really just giving us insight into the wonder of the world he visited and how the mystery inspired him to learn more.
The world has lost one of it's great teachers, a man who could bring joy to learning. A rare gift, one that will be dearly missed.
