Re: New Look
Have the colors changed since I last bitched? Regardless, I've gotten used to the new colors and like them.

Re: New Look
Curious if those of you involved in the schemes of the look have saved them and maybe could be used as themes we could choose? It would be neat to have the evolution of the look of the site in different themes.

Re: New Look
Nope. The point of this redesign was to simplify and standardize the design for the site to make it EASIER to upgrade as new patches come out and EASIER to expand to provide more content for the games we host. By additing/allowing additional themes to be selected, that means there is an additional theme we need to update every time we do the main theme. That takes more time, which is a big part of what we're trying to get away from in the first place.

Re: New Look
I think we just want different color schemes. Surely this must be possible.

Re: New Look
You've got the .css file that's generated from the database. Try playing with it locally and modifying the CSS. (You can use Firefox to apply your own .css over top of a site). From there, you can propose some color scheme ideas and see how they would look locally.

Re: New Look
I have a question about color matching...
The Userblock is displayed in color AAAAAA // 170-170-170. However, if you actually upload a picture in that color, you will notice the webpage displays it in a slightly different color (162-162-162). I have no idea why this is, but look at Rocket Punch's avatar for an example. ALMOST color matches, but you can clearly see the border.
For an exact color match, you have to code yours as B2B2B2 // 178-178-178. Then when the webpage messes with your colors, it displays them in the CORRECT color, 170-170-170.
For further weirdness, this color issue occurs only in certain browsers. If I load the webpage in IE6, that issue occurs. If I load it in Firefox, the colors display as normal, and now my avatar looks out of place, and Rocket's looks perfect.
Further, it only occurs with certain file formats. Lorian's avatar color matches just fine in both browsers, for example. He's using a GIF, while me and Rocket are using PNGs. (I would be using a GIF myself, but I don't know how to change the color palette in a GIF).

I don't even remember what the old icons were for "go to first new post", but this:
is horrible.

Re: New Look
Oh, another thing that I'd like to see changed is the fact that there are two "search" buttons on two different nav bars. One of them expands as you mouse over, while the other requires you to click to expand the search options. Since the two buttons I use the most are "New posts" and "Mark all forums", I'd prefer that they be in the same nav bar. In fact, I'd be happiest if those two each get their own top level button.
