Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

1. stop checking the TG forums so much and making posts.

I have done well with political stuff. Hell fire, i'll just let Steeler do all the talking, he speaks my thoughts well and and IMO knows his stuff.

2. staying off the computer.

I bought this thing as a tool to start a business.
Not two months later my mind talks me into getting a video game. My first on a PC.

Hopefully, come new years (when business starts) my computer useage will be reduced by half.

And that would be huge.

See, that was not dry, that was stinky and cheesy.

IMO, type II diabetes is not a disease, it just involves a organ that needs a gd break already. jk

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

I was at
2 x 591 ml bottles
1 355 ml can
every work day for a little while. (man that looks really bad when I write it out)

Then I stopped myself completely for 8 months or so.

Then work pressure and late nights started me up again. I'm not back up to those bad bad levels yet, but I do occasionally have 2 bottles in a day. I have considered taking up coffee to try to break my coke drinking, but I feel like I would just be starting up a more dangerous addiction with free coffee sitting a few steps from my desk at work.

So... I am shooting for a balance right now. I feel like a heroin addict, accepting that the only way to beat the habit is to control it first.

And yes, I did have a bottle of coke in the car which came with me from work.

I used to be so damn healthy...

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

Coke is soooo gross. I sometimes drink it if I need the caffeine to work late or whatever, but it's hard for me to choke it down. Putrid stuff.

My bad habit is clenching/grinding my teeth when I'm stressed or frustrated. This one's pretty important to break, as it causes all kinds of headaches and muscle problems. Working on breaking this habit.

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

I have tried to kick the nasty habit of "Pizza"

Next up will be Wal-Mart.

I have been soda-free for over Two years now, It was a cold-Turkey quit, and it sucked for the first month. But, I tell you, It is a noticible savings on the dinner bills. Every meal was around $2 cheaper. People still give me strange looks when I say I don't drink soda. The closest thing to soda I now drink is that Lipton Green Tea with Citrus.

Convenience is a terrible thing. It makes us lazy. I am now glad that my work has blocked TacticalGamer.com from internet. It forces me to be more creative with my methods of getting here.

Soda was so terribly convenient. When I was thirsty, it was just a snap of that little aluminum tab and.... I was even more thirsty.

Pizza is terribly convenient too. When I am hungry, I... don't even need to call anymore, I can just fill out a form online, and in 25-45 minutes have a round slab of delicious calories sitting right next to me. This was more difficult than Soda to give up. I managed almost a month, but convenience overtook me, so I have to give it another shot. If at first you don't suceed...

Wal Mart is too convenient. It's next on my list of "Only If I have to". If I can survive with going somewhere else, I will. part of my reliance on WM, though, was my work schedule. I used to work from 4pm to midnight, so the only thing open that I could shop at, was Walmart. but not anymore, so It may change very soon.

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

Go, Fatkid, GO!

I just recently stopped drinking soda again (I lapsed for about 2 months)

Heres what I know you have to look forward to.
1) The second and third days you will have neck aches and a headache at the back of your head. This is a withdrwal symtom, it will go away with a tylenol/ short nap.

2) I agree with wimp 110%. Water will help you reduce cravings and will help you lose weight quicker than without it.

3) Try to stay away from fast food places for a while....cause when you order that combo meal its gonna feel like youre wasting money ordering a large water instead of soda. Stick to sit down places if possible since they charge for the drink extra.

4) After a week or two youre gonna say to yourself, "just one every other day wont hurt me" but youre wrong. Like an alcaholic you cannot have the stuff in the house. Its too convienient. If you have to have it in the house (someone else in the house drinks soda) Buy bottled water. Its just as convienient and its not bad for you.

5) Once youve been off the caffiene for a while, water will work almost as well. Those of you who dont believe me, try drinking a big glass of water in the middle of the night when you get up to do some business. It really works.

Good luck man, I hope some of this helps you.

We can do it together. I'm with you.

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

Good stuff FreekyE

Being a level three Scientologist Cleric, I do not recommend tylenol for such symptoms.

Here are the Cruise protocols for dealing with a big time headache.

a ice pack on the back of the neck will chill down the nerves causing the pain.

15-20 minutes is good. By the time you hit 20, the pack is no longer freezing, and if it were you wouldn't know.

____

Steps:

Get a hand towel

Divide it in two

Get one side wet then ring it out so that it is damp.

put the ice pack (froozed peas or what ever that gives with melting) on the damp side.

cover the ice pack (or peas) up with the dry side.

lay down

apply cold and damp part to the neck (the dry part will be touching your pillow or couch).

Note, this works for headaches on the forhead or any were also.

Chill out for a while and listen to some Brian Adams "So far so good" best of album.

Here is a selection form the piece.

Cheers.

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

Ok my bad habit is spending money... I just closed on a house on Tuesday so Im trying to be abit more conservative with my money... Im an ebay junky.. Up until recently I was spending somewhere between $300-$400 a week on fishing equipment, hunting equipment, San Diego Padres / Khalil Greene autographed stuff, and anything else i think is a good deal.. I told myself I would go a whole month without checking ebay, and its pretty damn hard.. I still check it every now and again, but Im only using it for stuff i need for the house... Its crazy in that month that i didnt ebay, i managed to put an extra $2000 in the bank.. Lets see if i can do this for 1 more month. wish me luck

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread

Carry around a bottle of h2o whereever you go. When you crave soda, take a swig of it instead. I'm not a big soda drinking unless it's mixed w/whiskey anyways, but I know for sure that just having a bottle of water where ever you are doesn't make you want a can of pop.

A few nights ago I told a fellow 33rd I was going out to have a smoke, and he stated as a ex-smoker he had the right to say I should quit. I've been debating trying to quit for a while now and this thread only makes me want to give it a shot. Only thing is, if I have a beer, I feel like a I need a smoke too. That's gonna be tough to stop smoking AND drinking lol
