Re: KICK Your Habit Thread
If you've ever thought about quitting smoking, you might want to ask your doctor about Chantix. It's pretty amazing. I guess it blocks the nicotine receptors in your body, so you keep on smoking like normal after you start taking the medicine. Over time, your body gets less and less nicotine from the cigarettes that you smoke. Eventually your body is getting zero nicotine from smoking, there's no longer any physical addiction and your habits are entirely psychological. No withdrawals with this method! After taking Chantix for a few weeks, I'm down to about a third of a pack a day. I no longer have an urge for a morning cigarette, but I still have an urge to smoke after a big meal. Since I've never smoked in my house, going outside usually meant lighting up. This is a difficult habit to break.
Chantix is supposed to have some pretty nasty side effects, but the worst I had was nausea once when I took the med on an empty stomach. I was hoping for some of the weird dreams that the drug is known for, but no such luck yet.

Re: KICK Your Habit Thread
I found that I liked a cup of tea after a meal as a replacement. this helped through the summer months. The habit is tough. the cravings are much less frequent now. I am happy I am no longer going outside for a break in this awful winter weather we are having now...

As for winter weather, it's going to be 74 degrees today here. And even when it gets cold, I still usually enjoy getting out of the stifling hot buildings that I work in. I don't get it, if 85 degrees is uncomfortably warm in the summer, why do so many people enjoy that heat in the winter? I can't stand it...
