EA is offering a Full Version Trial of BF2142.

This is not the demo version. You will be able to access the unlocks and create persistent soldiers to get a better feel for the game.

Our servers are very popular and brimming with team-oriented players. For those who are on the fence, this is a great opportunity to try the game in all its glory. There have been many additions to enhance teamwork and increase the depth of the game engine since BF2.

Anyone else signed up for this yet? I signed up about 20 minutes ago and it said to 'expect an e-mail soon'.

I did immediately get an e-mail telling me I had been subscribed to the EA newsletter(s) but as of yet haven't received anything with a download link or anything like that.

I wonder if by 'soon' they meant the trial hasn't actually started yet?

If you read the text, you're actually signing up for the BF newsletter. I'm guessing that they'll offer this to EALink members anyway at some point, so I'll keep my name off one more spam list for the time being.

I read the text and knew about the newsletter and it made it seem like you had to do that to get on the list for the trial. The wording in the initial announcement makes it seem like the trial is open now. But, once you submit your information then you get the 'expect an e-mail soon' and the unsaid 'in the mean time we'll spam you since you had to give us a valid address to make sure you get invited to the trial'.
