Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

Details, Details, Details! Get your fresh, hot details here!

Finally things are ready! Special thanks to P8riot for lending a helping hand with getting TekRepublik on board with us. I just talked to them to finalize deposits, etc. So here's what we're looking at:

Members attending
Me! aka Sugar
Rincewind
P8riot
CingularDuality
Squeak
FreekyE
amu107.9
tau_neutrino
experiment626
StrikeFear (?)
ThePenguineer (+buds?)
Dirtboy
Beatnik
Leejo (yay!)
Drizzid
TheFeniX
Backlash-7
gunjunkie
war.monger1
fldash (+awesome, understanding wife)
Zoraster
KrazyRusskie
Priest

So here's the sitch:
Friday
We have reservations at TGIFriday's near the Arboretum from 7:00pm. Directions from the restaurant to the hotel via MapQuest. It's only 5 minutes from the hotel but that way you have both addresses so you can map it from wherever you're coming from. P.s. Please let me know asap if you still need to book a room.

Saturday
  • Head to Zilker park around 11am to enjoy the beautiful day and start the barbie. (Thanks Beat!) I'll be getting a small sum from everyone for meat products, paper plates, drinks, pavillion rental, etc. for the BBQ. (See "Paypal Me" below) I still need one more call to know which pavillion we're going to, but last year we were at "Pecan Grove."
  • Then when it starts to get cold, head to TekRepublik from 5pm-ish to 2am getting our game on!! They have all updates and patches to BF2 and 2142 (these two games will be the focus, though we'll play the gammet, I'm sure, including Wii and Guitar Heroes ) Here's the dealie, though. They have only 20 setups. BYOC will be $10 for the whole time, and I need about 5 people to volunteer to bring their rigs. This will ensure everyone gets a spot. They will allow 21+ beverages and our own food. They do need a 50% deposit to hold the date though. (See "Paypal Me" below. )

Sunday
Plans this day are traditionally (*giggle*) decided upon over the course of the weekend, although going to Amy's to bid farewell to everyone is a MUST! Someone mentioned paintball, and I think that's a great idea, but I'm not a paintballer at ALL so if someone will volunteer to get that info together???

Monday
Monday is President's Day for most people, so if you're off and want to go back for some more gaming, I'm all for it. Another person talked about a shooting range this day. I've never been, but I'd tag along if that's what the group was doing.

Paypal Me!
Here's a breakdown of what your $15 deposit will be covering:
Half of your day-pass for TekRepublik.
Part of the deposit for the pavillion.
Money for the food fund.
Please get that to me as soon as possible. My Paypal addy is lilcherubx@hotmail.com

Well, that's about it. This is the longest post I've ever written. I'd like to say thank you to all the people who have helped bring this together including those who are making travel arrangements and hiring babysitters in order to come We have twice as many people coming as last year and as we all know, the more TG, the better!

Please send me any questions, comments, accolades , or anything I've missed.

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

Put me down for bringing my own PC (I'll get by just fine with my laptop).

Question: does this place have a GH2 setup? Or will someone need to bring their PS2 with guitars? And even then, do they have a TV to setup at?

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

I saw the $15 deposit, but what will the total cost be for the LAN goodness and Zilker space rental?

There were only a couple people who voiced interest in paintball, and cash is tight anyway, so it looks like I'm just going to scrap that idea. Everything else sounds good, though!

Pls let me know the final headcount a few days before so I know how much foodstuff supplies I need to pick up for the cookout on Saturday.

Everything will be covered except the other half of "LAN goodness" which is $10 when we get there.

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

I'm pretty sure I'll have to leave before the LAN activities start (Chinese New Year Ever = eat dinner with your family), so I guess only 4 rigs will need to be brought along for the trip. Hopefully, I'll be able to sign-on once I get home to continue to battle!

I'm lazy and don't want to read through 3 pages of responses...

But, where is this BBQ taking place? In the U.S.? State? City?

Edit: Never Mind. There's no way for me to make it down to Texas. *sigh*
