Finally things are ready! Special thanks to P8riot for lending a helping hand with getting TekRepublik on board with us. I just talked to them to finalize deposits, etc. So here's what we're looking at:

So here's the sitch:
Friday
We have reservations at TGIFriday's near the Arboretum from 7:00pm. Directions from the restaurant to the hotel via MapQuest. It's only 5 minutes from the hotel but that way you have both addresses so you can map it from wherever you're coming from. P.s. Please let me know asap if you still need to book a room.

Saturday
  • Head to Zilker park around 11am to enjoy the beautiful day and start the barbie. (Thanks Beat!) I'll be getting a small sum from everyone for meat products, paper plates, drinks, pavillion rental, etc. for the BBQ. (See "Paypal Me" below) I still need one more call to know which pavillion we're going to, but last year we were at "Pecan Grove."
  • Then when it starts to get cold, head to TekRepublik from 5pm-ish to 2am getting our game on!! They have all updates and patches to BF2 and 2142 (these two games will be the focus, though we'll play the gammet, I'm sure, including Wii and Guitar Heroes ) Here's the dealie, though. They have only 20 setups. BYOC will be $10 for the whole time, and I need about 5 people to volunteer to bring their rigs. This will ensure everyone gets a spot. They will allow 21+ beverages and our own food. They do need a 50% deposit to hold the date though. (See "Paypal Me" below. )

Sunday
Plans this day are traditionally (*giggle*) decided upon over the course of the weekend, although going to Amy's to bid farewell to everyone is a MUST! Someone mentioned paintball, and I think that's a great idea, but I'm not a paintballer at ALL so if someone will volunteer to get that info together???

Monday
Monday is President's Day for most people, so if you're off and want to go back for some more gaming, I'm all for it. Another person talked about a shooting range this day. I've never been, but I'd tag along if that's what the group was doing.

Paypal Me!
Here's a breakdown of what your $15 deposit will be covering:
Half of your day-pass for TekRepublik.
Part of the deposit for the pavillion.
Money for the food fund.
Please get that to me as soon as possible. My Paypal addy is lilcherubx@hotmail.com

Well, that's about it. This is the longest post I've ever written. I'd like to say thank you to all the people who have helped bring this together including those who are making travel arrangements and hiring babysitters in order to come We have twice as many people coming as last year and as we all know, the more TG, the better!

Please send me any questions, comments, accolades , or anything I've missed.

Who's name are the reservations under at TGIF, because I'm still up for that

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

When I called, they said just to make sure to call again about two hours before we wanted to come eat...... so there's no reservation per se, but I did want to give them the heads up that we would be coming. It's going to be up to one of y'all to do the whole call-ahead seating thing. I'm not going to be able to get there Friday night due to not getting a hotel room, but I'm super excited about seeing everyone Saturday. Oh... I said that already? *grin*

Sweet! I look forward to a fantastic weekend! I tried making reservations at La Quinta earlier, but their computers were down. I better hurry up and call again! I'm down for TGIF.

Oh yes, about the accomodations. MasterEditor and Penguineer will be staying at a friend's place. Don't worry about us.

About TekRepublik though... we may have to leave before then, so that sucks major noogies.

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

Well this reeks of elderberries. I am not going to be able to make it after all. I've been fighting a killer toothache since Wednesday and was REALLY hoping to get better by tonight, but the pain has become too much to bear. I have to get my wisdom teeth pulled out, but that won't be until monday. In the meanwhile, I'll be taking antibiotics and vicadin, deaming me unsafe for driving. I'm so sorry I can't make it. I have had a real string of bad luck lately, and this is just the icing on the cake. I'm so frustrated. I was really looking forward to meeting all of you. Go ahead and use my deposit to add to the festivities. Have fun everyone, and maybe pour one out for the homies. :-(

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

Sorry to hear you can't make it dude.

For those that can make it, procurement of gustatory supplies is complete. 20 burgers, ~8 dogs, 6 Elgin, TX Sausages, cheese, buns, plates, paper towels, condiments. chips, cokes/diet cokes, snacks, and supplies are all in hand.

What we still need: two large coolers (one for food, one for drinks), ice, beer (if you want it - I'm bringing a six pack for me), water, and soda (if you don't like coke or diet coke).

I did run a bit over what I've received so far from Suga ($55 inc my part - total cost was $70), so if you haven't chipped in and plan to eat, please bring a little cash to help a partially employed grillmaster out.

Updated forecast: High of 65 and Sunny, Low of 34.

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

I can bring some more chips and drinks/beer. The closest thing I have to a cooler is one of those freezer bags from Costco. Now if I can find where I put it...

Can we get an update on who's going to attend?

See yall tmrw at 11!

Re: TG BBQ/LAN Party '07 -- Sign-up thread -- Woot!

I think it's a mystery, Tau. There were almost 25 on the "sign up thread" but I've only gotten Paypal from about 6. We're going to have to go dutch at TekRepublik bkz there wasn't enough to pay them a deposit. I'm coming sometime tomorrow, as soon as I can leave H-town. I'm hoping to be there in time for the second round of Buds at Zilker.

I can probably throw in for some more of the foodage. I'm sitting here at the LQ all depressed that War had to bail

Just kidding. I left you a message on your phone mate, but seeing as your not here we don't have to "hang out." I also arrived later than I thought I would into Austin, so I missed the TGIF that may or may not have been happening :?

I guess I'll get started on my 'art' project
