Long few weeks for me
I have been out of the loop for a few weeks now due to some real life/school related things, but I am finally back in action.
Some of you may have seen this on national news: 2 Fridays ago (1/19) there was a deadly (fatal) school stabbing at Lincoln-Sudbury HS, my very own high school. You always think that things like this would never happen in your own town, but sadly they did. This was an isolated fight between a freshman and a special eduication sophomore in one of the bathrooms, with the sophomore committing the crime. It has been a tough week for our school to recover, but we are all doing fine.
To add to the mix, that next Tuesday exams were supposed to start. Exams were delayed from starting on Tuesday to Thursday, with them finishing up tomorrow. Sorry to all those waiting for info on the next TGU event and my 4th guys, but things are picking back up and getting back to normal so expect to seen new info soon.

Wow Acid, that's horrible

We had a stabbing at my Jr. High School back in the day but the victim lived.
Glad you're getting back in the game though

When you think about ALL the stuff going on in the public schools for the last ten years, I wonder if private schools will be invogue in the not too distance future and public schools significantly reduced in size and Federal funding?(PO3) Marcinko_R. (BF2 PR .509) Squad Member

Being a special ed teacher is a tough sale as is. This is not going to help.

Re: Long few weeks for me
Is there a general increase in incidents like this where you live?
People where I live talk incessantly about the increase in violence and they cite the most recent incidents as proof, but many of the most serious acts of school-age violence that I can recall happened in the 70's and 80's. Likewise for kidnappings and such. I am quite certain that nothing has changed but the hype.

Re: Long few weeks for me
Of course not where I live. Why would something happening in my home town affect the politics and funding of the national school system? But I know your style icky, I had that coming to me.
Good point about the 1970s. Things were definitely worse than today.
However, the acute instances of violence (deaths) may have gone up (and be more shocking [subjective word]). Perhaps the media hype of the past ten years has gotten to me. Plus I am young, and I do not study such things. But, from what I do know, the 70s were worse.
I would actually say, that the overall instances have constantly gone done in the last 35 years.
I just do not know if the deaths/incident is worse today. Most likely it is not.
What I do know is that violet behavior in girls, who frequent schools, to have gone up quite a bit in the past several years. I watched this off the 6:30 news, and it was reported by the F.B.I. So no hype there friend.
Good news, the boys have gone down.
_____
I actually do not have any numbers on the increase in private schools in the nation.
Nor do I have numbers on the increase in Charter school funding from the Feds. (potintialy less money to public school when this happens.)
______
I was also hinting at a conspiracy that involves.
A. The failure of the public school.
B. The rise of the private school.
The reason: The businesses that would run these private schools would make a fortune. As we all know, there are plenty of kids around.Last edited by Rick_the_new_guy; 02-02-2007 at 10:56 PM.
