So you have played CZ? I like it, persoannly. I also loved deleted scenes. I think DS i the best single player game at the moment... maybe other than half-life

Sorry E, you took my meaning wrong.

It is a new engine, it is very impressive looking, shooting barrels, moving scenery etc, certainly has potential to make some deformable maps, which I think would be nice. Also perhaps moving cover points.

What I meant was, it plays very much like a polished CZ at the moment. No huge leaps in game play, which I certainly didn't expect. It's an evolutionary rather than a creationist thing

I've mentioned some of the nicer touches elsewhere, and the beta release is IMHO a good thing from Valve, one free bug test for them, a little something for the community. It'll be interesting when the mappers get their hands on it properly.

Yes. The CS and HL community will probably put the original developers to shame...

    CZ>CS:S

    More playable and enjoyable.

I dont see how you can bash CZ as it is the same thing as CS:S. Just one step further:
CZ was just a graphics update for CS. CS:S is just another graphics update to CZ. All the gameplay options are exactly the same the only difference is that they added in things that fly around when they are hit.

CZ isnt a waste of money as I once thought, it is very enjoyable. It does change gameplay slightly.

CS:S is a port of CZ, NOT CS 1.6

However, isnt' CZ just a port of CS?

CZ runs on the HL1 engine if I am not mistaken and it gets most of its code from Vanilla CS.

    from the CZ site

    http://www.cs-conditionzero.com/overview.html

Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (TM) advances this award-winning series by introducing objective based single-player action, the official CS bot, and special enhancements for online play. CS:CZ is a tactical action game that challenges you to compete with and against cunning computerized opponents in a Tour of Duty across the globe.
Sounds like all they did was made a few enhancements, made an "official" CS bot, and turned a multiplayer mod into a single player mod. I won't think that was a major improvement over vanilla CS, especially not to make it so much better than CS. Bots were already available from countless free sources. The online enhancements they made they could have easily made in an update to vanilla CS. And I fail to see how turning one of the best multiplayer games into a single player game could be considered an advancement.

CS: Source sounds like the same thing happened in regards to tweaks installed into the game. However, CS source has the advantage of using a brand new game engine and makes use of some of those advantages already.

I'm looking forward to CS: Source as a nice diversion while Half-Life 2 and the Source engine are still fresh, but it's still Counter-Strike and it won't hold my interest for that long. As long as HL2 comes with its own form of multiplayer(if only DM/CTF) out of the box, I'll be happy.

no it is not CS:S is HL2
    CZ is HL1 based

Valve done a good thing here, people beta testing CS:S are infact helping them beta test HL2 has whole, its allowing them to check netcode for multiplayer, its allowing them to find any wierd stuff that might happen on the wide range of hardware once HL2 comes out.... good move. But an even better move would be to release the dam game already....
