Test your knowedge of Europe!

http://europe.bizrok.com/

Identify as many countries as you can on the map in 5 minutes.

I got 46/49, missed Malta, San Marino, and Azerbaijan (which i thought is part of central Asia)

Re: Test your knowedge of Europe!

Odd. It lists Turkey as a European country, when the bulk of the landmass (and half the capital) are in Asia.

Re: Test your knowedge of Europe!

I fail at european geography, but if you put a body chart in front of me, I can name every single part (which is vastly more than europe has countries).

Yes, I also wouldn't consider Turkey, Cyprus, etc, part of Europe. Nor Iceland. Russia is questionable.

Iceland considers itself tied to Europe socially and politically (well, culturally/historically too).

And Greenland doesn't?

Re: Test your knowedge of Europe!

Greenland should probably be included as well, but its distance from continental Europe makes its inclusion a bit weaker.

Besides, Iceland (part of it) is on the correct tectonic plate as the rest of Europe

Re: Test your knowedge of Europe!

The discovery of tectonic plates came after the classification of continents, and only has to do with what is and what isn't a continent, because tectonic plates are what caused landmasses to become seperated. There are many cases that I can name in which a place is considered to be on the same continent and is on a seperate tectonic plate, or a place is on the same tectonic plate, but considered to be on a different continent.

The argumant over what is a planet is much like the argument between geographers and geologists. Which is more important, the traditional classification, or the scientinfic knowledge of how the object formed.

I know, I was only joking

Icelandic people consider themselves to be European; not sure about Greenlanders though.
