Re: desktop tower defense

There's no method. A random seed is sequenced and compounded.

Re: desktop tower defense

$score = 1000*rnd()*(1+rnd())^time();

That would be a big number though.... .

Re: desktop tower defense

oh man is that addicting...

I used 6 squirt towers arranged around 2 bash towers... tried to make them circulate around the bash towers as much as possible since it's an area weapon (the BT's also stun them, keeping them in range of the ST's longer). Then the rest of it just spirals them around so they're always in range of two squirt towers.. and each tower get's 2 or 3 passes at each badguy. I also put in a "pipeline" of sorts... so the guys coming from the top are 'processed' directly, while the guys from the left go up and around the top-left corner... this keeps a pretty constant flow of baddies through the grinder.

(a few pellet towers are missing since I tried selling them right at the end in order to redirect a few last guys I wasn't able to get)

As far as scoring goes - you can get more points by clicking the [Send Next Level] button...

More like:
Code:
score (int time, int index) {
  index ++;
  if (time > 0)
    return score (time - 1000 * rnd (), index);
  return index;
}
Where time is in milliseconds.

Re: desktop tower defense

In case anyone is looking at my setup, my arrangement is a little messed up from me trying to change the course and catch the last boss. In my highest scoring one, I accidentally sent the 50th level guys through right when the bosses were going through and that made me miss all of the bosses.

The guys who get really high scores get everything by doing something called "juggling", where they bounce the guys back and forth through their maze by changing the walls. That seems kinda lame to me.

Re: desktop tower defense

Ok I finished all fifty levels (on medium) and only lost one life. Score was only 4000 or so.

I think I have the key.

Think steam generator and how it prevents water hammering.

That's right up there on the cryptic scale.

You should study steam generators.
