Re: desktop tower defense

I must be doing something wrong. Any of you guys have any tips? I keep making big mazes so they get shot a lot but my best is still only about 2500.

Re: desktop tower defense

It's all about upgrades... quality over quantity. The base Squirt tower does 5 damage. 5 upgrades later it does over 300!

Re: desktop tower defense

I think someone should post a screen shot of there map once they finish. I can't stop playing until I at least beat the game on medium. I don't even care about high score. This game is like crack and I have not been able to do any work all day.

Re: desktop tower defense

go here: http://www.handdrawngames.com/Deskto...Scoreboard.asp and search for group "tg". Then click any name to get the map for that score. (note: some maps have blocks missing -they were sold right as the last guy was going through the maze)

edit, here's my favorite:

Re: desktop tower defense

Search for "tacticalgamer". Whiskey is out-of-date.

If you look at my maze for Hard, you will see the layout I use for almost every case. Some of the others have late game modifications which I did to try and nail the bosses on 48 and 49.

The advantage of a diagonal layout is that it is extremely efficient. The disadvantage is that it allows spawn creeps to slip through the cracks sometimes. The ability to have more firepower easily outweighs the spawn problem.

The guys who have really high scores are using a technique called "juggling", where they modify the maze over and over to bounce the creeps back and forth. They essentially flood the maze with creeps really fast, then they just keep them inside for the whole game. Because of this technique, some of the mazes you see with high scores are made specifically for juggling. Juggling seems kinda lame to me, so I avoid it. I usually only sell blocks if I placed them wrong or if I am putting a new one where I had an early game placeholder.

Speed! is where it's at now.

That is what I meant. A steam generator has a steam seperator which uses a convoluted path that steam can get through but water can't. Thus you don't have to worry about small drops of water slamming into pipes causing damage (water hammering).

Re: desktop tower defense

LOL, I knew you would get it eventually.

I can't help but notice that you dropped your old pattern for something a little more like mine.

I think there's room for improvement in my timing, but I'm too busy fighting with the Speed Challenge now.

(meanwhile, Whiskey still thinks he's #1)

how do you get that diagonal layout started, icky? IE, what do your first couple of rounds look like?
