Re: Silly Military "tasks"

The stuff I put on my License was classic, I wish I still had a copy of it.
I had stuff like Weed eater, Mop, Broom, Buffer, and crap like that.
I knew the guy at my last unit that did all the Linence, and he was cool with stuff like that..

Re: Silly Military "tasks"

Holy Crap!!!! I forgot about the chemlight batteries! HAHAHHA!!! We had to stop doing that when the FNG ended up at division HQ and a certain individual that had stars on his shoulders heard the FNG ask about them. We caught it hardcore from the CO on that one. LOL

Dog-and-pony shows tend to piss me off. Doing something you rarely do to show someone who doesnt give a crap how cool it is that you can do it. yay.
Like sending 30 people from the unit to go study in a room so that you can show a congressman how awesome it is that we use this new facility ALL THE TIME.

Re: Silly Military "tasks"

I always liked being told to stop working so that we'd still have something to look busy with when the VIPs showed up. "Leave those racks alone and just go sit in your truck for a while; you guys trying to finish early or something?"

Tell me bout it. I was having a FNG do a shock test on a Dozer, when a full bird walked by and ask me what I was doing. Thankfully he got it and with a laugh told me to "carry on".

One of my Platoon mates was showing a 3 star around out new D9s in Kawait before we went across the border
Well he managed to slam the 3 stars hand in the door and broke 2 of his fingers.
Guy got a Coin out of it...
wont let me post URLs till I reach 15 post so I cant post pictures of the D9s that I took in Iraq

4. wax a floor with neutral kiwi shoe polish (boot camp)
I remember doing this also in A.F. boot camp. Take that extra length of belt that you had after you fit it and using that and a can of clear shoe polish and do your area.

Another thing that stands out, was having the whole F.D. standing out in a sandstorm in Saudi waiting for some 3 star to show up. Yeah, I was the "greeter" and yeah, it sucked and no I didn't have my goggles.

Another big waste of time, we had a bag drag at 5 in the morning, only to be processed, flown to idaho, get off the plane, be briefed about a fake enemy in a fake war under fake pretenses and then turn around and get on the plane and fly back to TX. All while in MOP 3.

Christ I am glad I am out.

Or you pick up enough stripes that you get to assign yourself as "A-driver".
