It certainly appears that Blizzard has decided not to mess up a good thing. It looks to me like this is Starcraft on a new engine, with a new campaign and some new units.

I'm please and anxious to play it!

That website they put up for it is incredible. I cannot wait until it comes out. I wonder when it will actually come out. I was hoping 08, but I'm starting to hear rumor it might be all the way in 09. Regardless, they refuse to officially speculate yet, and I don't mind if it takes awhile - as another person has said, it sounds like they are on the right track and determined, as Blizzard usually is, not to rush through and damage one of their franchises.

I'd be willing to expect this game in '08 as it's been in dev a LONG time and the engine is already in place. Heck, they're already playtesting. It's not like they're making an MMO.

On that note, most people were expecting "World of Starcraft." Myself included. Starcraft 2 to me is a big downer and nothing special. Had they used their previous successful moves they'd simply port their RTS into an MMO like they did with WoW. But, maybe they plan on that anyways?

One can only dream.

I personally was near certain it would be Starcraft 2. Because with WoW, they more or less froze the Warcraft Continuity. They can't really do a Warcraft 4, unless they have it significantly far in the future, or do a simultaneous event in WoW. Starcraft can still be made into whatever they want. And it's been awhile since they released an RTS, so it's about time.

Dont' get me wrong..I'd love world of starcraft...but i'd also probably stop playing WoW. which is the other issue..they'd possibly be fighting their own playerbase. World of Starcraft could work as a FPS/MMO hybrid or the like...more of an action game. But a traditional MMO out of the starcraft franchise would likely be an unwise move.

Unfortunately you are forced to use the blizzard downloader if you want to download the starcraft videos.

For those that don't want to bother with opening more ports for the downloader, you can use WoWTorrentEx (http://capnbry.net/wow/downloads/WoWTorrentEx-3.zip) to extract the .torrent file from the blizzard downloader so that you can use your own bittorrent client to download the videos.

The Demonstration video is very funny.

Nothing like a bunch of geeks ooohing and awwwwing in ecstasy over a game. Those people are addicted.
