Re: Spider_Man 3

one of my students put it this way,

"the goblin 'got' spiderman by convincing his girlfriend to break up
with him? lame."

well put.

Much of the story seemed forced, and the last action scene, billed as "the greatest action scene in comic book history" felt unfinished, as I feel they should have killed off Sandman as well.

Re: Spider_Man 3

Action sequences good. Humor throughout good. Actual Venom (about 1min's worth) good. Everything else, not so good.

Too much crying, somewhat incorrect appearance of Venom, and a bad guy turning good ruined it for me.

Re: Spider_Man 3

I thought the movie was fun. I'm still thinking 2 is the best. But honestly, Venom was the worst part of this movie. In the comics he's a hulking beast...in the movie he's Eric Foreman...dumb. Topher was not a good choice for Venom. I hope he stays dead if they plan on using Topher again.

All and all though the graphics were good, the fight scenes fairly decent. I don't regret the price of the ticket like I did when I saw Pirates of the Carribean 2.

Re: Spider_Man 3

Let me put it this way...I felt like I got more out of my money than I did when I went to see "March of the Penguins" with the kids.

That ain't saying much...but that's kinda the point.

Was i the only one that got teary eye'd when MJ saw the ring and still shattered Pete's heart?...Oscar performance no doubt! I thought that whole thing on the park was wierd, but I still enjoyed the movie. Very entertaining. The special affects were freakin' awesome- Sandman was the best character for me. "That Seventies Show" dork made me laugh a few times. Willem Defo is a scary man, goblin indeed. 8 out of 10 stars: 5 for the graphics, 2 for the acting and 1 for the humor. I think its definately worth the $8 to go see in the theatres, unless you don't like kids, teenagers, or just don't like people in general (it was a packed house even today). Me- I'm a people person. Good movie.

Smile Re: Spider_Man 3

I thought it was the best of the 3 Spiderman movies.

Here's my reasons for this:

A) The fighting scenes were extremely well done. There was no shortage of action, they took place in different areas (skyscraper, subway, armored van, construction site, in the air of NY, you name it, they fought there). They were creatively done, especially the last one with the whole tag-team concept.

B) Plot-twists. Between Harry losing his memory, getting it back, re-becoming the bad guy, becoming a good guy. Mary Jane's overall moping throughout the whole thing (if you want sympathy, just tell him that you were let go, or else he's going to tell you that all critics suck). By the way, all women will tell you is that he wasn't listening to her and she wasnt being 8ltchy throughout the whole movie.

C) The whole good spider bad spider thing was just awesome. You could tell when that stupid symbiote was taking over him, and it was just hilarious to watch him being all cocky. The dancing at the jazz club was fun to watch too, even tho he was doing it to be an @$$.

Feel free to argue with me about it, I'm already arguing with everyone else : P

That right there says it all. Green Goblin is good??? That was the worst thing ever. They did it with Otto Octavius too but to a much lesser extent. Really lame IMO.

Overall the start of the movie was decent but it needed more of venom. How about the whole bad guys and good guys team up? UGH who wrote this hunk of junk script!

The part I loved the most was with Jameson's pills and the buzzer from Betty Brant, it is just genious.

I've always wondered why people clap at a movie. It's not like the actors can hear the applause, like they would at a play or a musical. No one is getting an encore either. Please enlighten me as to what the purpose of this is. I don't get it.

I've never actually seen this happen, but I would verbally ridicule anyone that I saw clap after a film.

I'd say it's a throw back towards that idea of clapping for actors on stage, and a bit of letting everyone around you in the theater know your approval of the movie. It's a lot easier to tell a bunch of people you liked a movie by clapping with a large group than individually each of you going "I liked it."

Personally, I have clapped for a movie for that very reason. That's also the reason I clap at a live performance, not just to let the actors know of my approval of their work but to share the message with my fellow audience members.

I don't see anything odd or wrong with it unless you make the assumption you're only clapping for actors on stage.

Oh... I've actually had a theater back in my home town that would rewind a film after the credits played to usually the climax scene if the audience stuck around, just so we could get another good glimpse of it. Smaller town though back then, doubt they do it anymore. I feel old...
