Re: Fall Out III !!!
Eh, three words for you: Duke Nukem Forever. Well, one more word, too: Darkfall. Just because something gets announced doesn't mean it is actually going to happen.
Personally, I sadly won't be playing the game if it's first-person perspective. It was both the world and the type of play that made me love the game. If I want a shooter or action game, I've got Battlefield 2. I've never been able to enjoy RPGs done in first-person.

Re: Fall Out III !!!
so you didn't like any of the might and magics ? or the dungeon and dragons games ? or more recently dues ex, or Morrowind (one of the best pc rpgs ever made) if so thats to bad cause you missed a huge chunk of great rpgs. FP rpgs have had their misses (dues ex 2 comes to mind) but a ton of classic games have been made in FP its pretty ignorant (no offense) to count a game out based only on the perspective used. All I know is that this company made 2 of the best rpg's ever to hit the pc and they were both FP so if anyone can do it they can.

Re: Fall Out III !!!
Nope, never played a one of them. Closest I got was something like the Pool of Radiance or Wizardry games, where you moved around in 1-step fashion, but broke out into overhead or a list view for combat. Honestly, I can't stand the FP (or very near-FP) perspective, and more often than not it makes me physically ill. Certain shooters and other FP games give me motion sickness, sadly.

Re: Fall Out III !!!
The third person world view was a big aspect of the fall out game play. I'll be perfectly happy if they keep it. The game would lose something as a fps. The game wasn't a shooter, it was an exploring game with clever things thrown in.

Re: Fall Out III !!!
do you honestly think they will produce a 3rd person turn based grid game in this day in age ? maybe if they want to sell 10 copies. I want full immersion I want to be be able to trek through the wasteland I wanna explore ruined cities I wanna be able to shoot a tin can around. More or less I think fallout can be done very well in a FP view as long as they remain true to allot of the great things from Fallout 1 and 2 such as the environments and overall tone of the game not to mention the perk system and melee weapons. I also don't understand why people are acting like this is going to be some sort of perversion of fallout made just to grab a buck because as I recall interplay already made that game it was called BrotherHood of Steel and nothing these guys can do can be worse then that hunk of crap.

Re: Fall Out III !!!
The game mechanics would need to be completely changed as an fps. Pumping % into a weapons skill is meaningless if the player is controlling it. The game can be good as an fps, but it certainly wouldn't be bad if they kept the old style.
As far as the game being a ruined, the developers have been swapped, the original gusto that was the game was its creators. It will be difficult to keep to the same standard with different brains at work.|TG|Switch

Re: Fall Out III !!!
Heh, RTS games still sell, and they've been "old" for a while now. Hell, Blizzard just announced Starcraft II. And turn-based games like Civ still sold quite well when new versions came out.
Fallout is a classic with a huge fan base, I don't think they'd all throw their hands up in the air and walk away if the new one was styled after the first two. Personally, I think the same viewpoint of the first two games, but with updated graphics and engines would still be a hit. It could also do really well as an FPS-type view, but I don't think following the old fashion way would harm it in the least. Everyone has their preferences, all we can do now is wait and see what they decide to do. :P

Re: Fall Out III !!!
well its using the oblivion engine so I'm 99.9% sure its not going to be turn based, but it may be 3rd person and really I think I was a little off with my comment on turn based not selling cause I forgot KOTOR/KOTOR2 were turn based but they were disguised in such a way to keep the game fluid. I think that might be the perfect way to make Fallout actually but I don't think it will done like that though that would be sweet I'm pretty sure it will be more of a FPS along the lines of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but done 300 times better.
